Has the elevation bug gotten worse?

I'm talking about it being impossible to hit something that's just a little higher or lower than you are. My current character is just getting into the Plains, and while it seemed bad (especially with wolves in the Mountains) it's really, really awful trying to whack skeeters in the Plains. Worse than I recall it being on my earlier toons.

No elevation bug exists regarding to hitting enemies.
Connected hits, hit.

Sorry you didn't like the game mechanics, but that's not a bug.

Last I heard the devs were looking to fix that bug that's not a bug.

Yeah OP i am with you, i don't understand the need for the Z-axis precision of weapon swings. It's just frustrating, and never really satisfying. When you get it right you're just relieved that the game didn't punish you arbitrarily for a small height differential. I legitimately hate it.

getting timing right is fun. trying to adjust your elevation perfectly for every swing is just an annoyance.

From what I've noticed, the axe seems to hit most things with its diagonal swing.

The sword seems to swing a bit low, and the spear reaches higher.
I guess the spear has the added bonus of being able to throw it, but then you'll need to retrieve it.

If you run a modded game you might want to do a clean install by deleting the folder manually after an uninstall.

1. No.
2. No.
3. My weapon goes over it or under it.
4. Frostner, Black metal sword, silver sword, iron mace.
5. It not a corrupt file. It's been a problem since launch, but it seem to be worse now.
6. No mods.
I have never failed to hit a deathsquito unless it stun locked me.
Not even sure that is possible.
I think you may have something wrong with your install if you can't hit a deathsquto.
Not kidding or trying to dismiss you here... something is wrong with your game if that is true.

Yeah, when a Deathsquito charges you, you can either:

A. Parry/Block and hit it immediately after, before it flies off.
B. Swing right before it gets to you and kill it anyway.

If you're using a two-handed weapon, just time it right and kill it before it even gets to you. (Sledge AoE or Atgeir spin)

Hitting Moder is a pita... cant get to the hit box because wing in way, but wing doesnt count for damage. Yes it exists, but you can block in a wide area. Has it got worse? I have not noticed it getting worse.

LOL, that's not what the op is talking about at all. The strike zone when swinging a sword, for example, is a pretty thin slice. A mob standing a little below or above your level does not get hit. Same thing happens with tree stumps on an incline - you have to get on the downslope side to hit them with the axe.

Don't feel bad - the title made me think the same when I first saw it.

How does one get a Deathsquito to hold still while one paves it over?

I haven't had a problem killing Deathsquitos yet. I wear fully upgraded wolf armor and carry a fully upgraded iron buckler. I block and swing my mace right after the bloodsucker strikes.

A viking must be on the same level as an enemy to land a melee strike. Conversely, one's enemy must be on the same level as a viking to land a melee strike.

Oh if only that were true about enemies. I have swung fruitlessly at a wolf higher than me while taking damage from that wolf. Same has happened when they are lower than me. It is really something that needs fixing.

Body piles are bad for this. Tried melee inside a building. Now a floor should be flat right? Couldn't hit with polearm. Mace seems to be better at height differences.
