Stamina is the crux of the issue
Hi all,
I absolutely agree that the later parts of the game should be more challenging in parts, but the stamina is not the only way to ramp up difficulty. Stamina currently affects everything, including non combat tasks and doesn't add a 'fun' element in anything outside of combat.
Perhaps for the bow if we still want to keep it punishing to use for people spamming arrows- they could hit harder but be harder to aim/take longer to fire rather than the massive stamina draw.
Additionally, if there was a way to work on 'stamina'/fitness - that could be another option. I just think too much is tied to the food and its stats.
thanks for listening

I tend to die in the swamp, when i forget to bring the potions, or i go out at night without rested bonus. When you say that, it reminds me of the people who would complain about rushing.
And not been prepared, and kept falining.
I died way more because I run somewhere unprepared than being overrun by mob spawns.
When I go journey all I pack is spare armor and some stuff for portal and a workbench, build it when I find something move back, get my upgraded stuff and steamroll back via portal.
Works like a charm.

only thing that is lil wierd whit stamina is that, you you need stamina to be able to make a farm and stuff, even though in RL this also the case, I find it lil wierd that you use stamina for reparing, leveling grounds hehe, but it is not a big deal, exept silly trolls seems to be faster now, you used to be able walk away from them, but now they catch up :P

Yeah, I actually like H&H as a whole, but the health and stamina values are where I'm more sympathetic on when it comes to those criticizing the updates. When fixing something broken that people were enjoying in some way, the best way of going about it is thinking of how to fix it without hampering that enjoyment, or replacing it with something less broken.
Games like Dark Souls gets by with stamina management due to other factors like either your hits or tactics being satisfying and making you feel like you achieved something despite the stamina essentially bottlenecking you. Nerfing stamina by indirectly nerfing it using food values being nerfed makes it so hard to make it more or at least equally satisfying as previously, which it kind of wasn't, the stamina part was just there. Instead of nerfing food values they could have just adjusted stamina drain, maybe make your hits need more stamina, do more damage, while also nerfing blocking a little bit but keeping parry as strong as it is, almost making it more Souls-like. It'd be kind of typical, but it is a proven formula.
This might be out of lack of experience as this is the first survival crafting game I've ever played, but why is stamina necessary for building? Is it really necessary to have a stamina drain when putting down wood or stone? I mean it makes sense realistically speaking, but this is a video game that doesn't need to always abide by reality, I can't see a justification for having the need to actually eat precious resources just so I can build a house. A good amount of people that don't like the new food system would probably be less critical if there wasn't a stamina drain on crafting, at least I'd think so.
Also these forums would be so much more pleasant if criticisms were more akin to this topic, non-combative and actually empathetic.

I have max foods, padded and weaponry, Stamina still drains way too damn quick in combat even with high stamina foods. Never whiffed to empty so often since the update. The problem with stamina is the regen was nerfed even with a rested bonus. It's particularly annoying solo where im just kinda standing there like an idiot waiting for stamina to come back after swinging a weapon 3 times.
Some way to enhance regen rate would be nice, Tasty mead lasts only 10 seconds so its 3x stamina regen effect is useless. Make that last 10 minutes or something, Maybe make some of the foods enhance stamina regen as well (muckshake comes to mind). Make it so certain armor has bonuses to stamina regen, maybe a late game light armor or enchanted cloak.

Haven't had any issues with stamina during combat since H&H (I'm eating 2H + 1S food).
Instead of 3x primary attack, consider using the secondary attack of 1h sword/mace after a parry. It usually gets the same job done with less overall stamina usage.

Go play Dark Souls, or Sekiro, then come back to Valheim to appreciate Stamina. Anybody complaining about Stamina right now is simply too afraid to eat less meat, dodge more, and stop facetanking.
The Stamina drain on every weapon is pretty much unchanged since the last patch so I have no idea what anybody is talking about there, unless you are sitting there in parry/block mode without thinking of moving back, dodging, or doing nothing to gain Stamina.

Stamina seems much the same, and people complained before update stamina was an issue, I'm not sure why alot of people think it needs changing, maybe alot of people need to change their play style. From the get go in this game things have to be done slow or you gonna have a bad time, Everytime time I've died or started a new game I get reminded oh yeah gotta be a bit slower whoops.

I'm currently a little on-the-fence on the whole stamina question, post-H&H. I'm finding it more difficult to manage now and finding that it's making dealing with mobs (the need to continually strike or block when surrounded) and trolls (the need to fire arrows while running the hell away!) decidedly tricksy. Still, I wonder whether this is just a matter of adapting, that I'll be wondering in a few weeks why it ever bothered me ...
Time will tell.
What I am finding frustrating is the apparent inability to train now. It used to be possible to increase one's skills by spending time firing arrows at a rock or bashing hell out of a tree and one of the key benefits of that was that it reduced the stamina drain for weapons use. It looks as if higher skills still equals lower stamina drain ... but, as far as I can tell, it's not possible to train any more so it's more of a grind to get that benefit. I'm spending entire game-days hunting everything in the meadows that moves in a desperate attempt to increase my bow skills.
Want to buy some spare meat? ;-)

So I played early game infamous swamp/mountain time and late game.
Before HH, after HH and after the Patch.
And stamina is quite like it was before its a rare resource for sure but its manageable.
Sure you need to be prepared but that’s literally the main theme of the whole game.
