Whatever boyo.
Wtf boyo? OP was talking about bonemass getting stuck and you came out of nowhere talking about food, about early game when noone even closely talked about anything else than the bonemass fight. No once did i tell you to change your play style, but you sure did.
Take your time, read slowly if you don' understand it the first time, we'll wait.
I gave him a suggestion on why bonemass might be getting stuck. He also said that he couldn't keep enough health points to finish him, and I said his health seemed low. You, then started talking about playstyle, talking about stamina and being able to hit.
It's not just a question of stamina food or health food, it's the overall quality of the food, which is why I suggested serpent stew, which would add a significant amount of health, without sacrificing much stamina (if it replaced the carrot soup). It would increase both health and stamina if it replaced the sausage.

All I said is that his health seemed low. You're the one that started discussing combat styles, and you're the only one suggesting that your style is better than mine. I don't know which is best, and I stated as much. I'm just making sure the facts are understood.

Of course health points are worth something when you're out of stamina. Running out of stamina just slows down your attack, it doesn't stop it, and it actually doesn't slow it down that much. Your attack speed reduces, but you can attack for longer, so it's a tradeoff.
I always use poison resist mead in the bonemass attacks, even with the mask, which seem to at least mostly negate the poison effect. Of course it depends on what armor you wear as well.
Not everyone plays the way you do, get over it. And i highly doubt an increased health pool with barely any regen can compare to some rolls and parry with a full regen in a matter of seconds, when look about long term survivability

Health points aren't worth much when you're out of stamina. I use 1 health to 2 stamina in a build after early game.
I generally lean on Bonemass with the tower shield from above and pound him with the mace until I fall off, then run around the fort and repeat until he drops. Still have to avoid the poison gas, even with the root mask,. If I stay with him on the ground, HP gets low before I get very much done.
This time, I ended up standing on his shoulder or head, and couldn't hit him.

Of course, but what are you fighting that takes more than a few strikes?
Bonemass
That quote was in reference to early game.
Also, the OP is saying he doesn't have enough health to survive...
And without stamina he will not be able to run/dodge/strike
The OP is saying that he doesn't have enough health to survive. I didn't make that up. Clearly stamina isn't working for him.
You might get an extra 3-hit combo in before you reach that point, but you're going to have at least twice as long to hit him before you have to back off and recover if you have the extra health.
A good stamina level allows you to mitigate incoming damage. Having a big health pool is a strategy, but at the speed it regens, i prefere going with stamina and avoid the damage completely on long fights, and deal as much damage as i can when i get an opening.
Short fights -> Health
Long fights -> Stamina
That's the way i do, seems OP does so too, but you do you, play the way you have most fun
There's alot of moving parts there. It's not obvious to me which is better. You're using alot of stamina running and dodging, rather than putting it all into hitting. You also have to keep that stamina available when hitting to be able to run/dodge, whereas, with a large health pool, you can just pound away until you have to back off due to low health.
In either case, replacing the one of the food items (I would replace carrot stew) with serpent stew would make a huge difference IMO. It's also not hard to make a run up into the mountains, get onions and make onion soup. If you're ready for bonemass, you should be ready for the mountains.

Because he's going for stamina. To reach this health when starting the game, you can't have stamina food, and run out after a few strikes. Your health is also way to low IMO. That's the health level that I start the game with.

I feel kind of guilty because I ended up cheesing The Elder that way. Died the first time, went back, and he ended up getting stuck behind three trees and just standing there while I pumped fire arrows into him.
That's actually my strategy for killing Trolls; run for gaps between trees and/or rocks that I can squeeze through, but the Troll has to go around. Gives me the breathing room I need to turn and take a well-placed arrow shot.
BTW I tried out a "barn door" shield, and it doesn't work for me. Movement penalty is huge. The defense from the bone tower shield is awesome, though.

Of course, but what are you fighting that takes more than a few strikes? You can fight greydwarf in your underwear with a flint axe and the 3-meat combo. Also, the OP is saying he doesn't have enough health to survive...
Bonemass doesn't do a huge amount of damage, but has a huge amount of HP, so it's a battle of attrition. When you start pounding him with that mace, you're going to run out of stamina pretty fast, at which point you're in the same situation as if you had eaten all health foods. You might get an extra 3-hit combo in before you reach that point, but you're going to have at least twice as long to hit him before you have to back off and recover if you have the extra health.
FWIW, serpent stew is not hard to get, and is end-game level food. IMO, you should always have some for boss fights from bonemass on.

I like to build at least a small base around the bonemass skull, if for no other reason than that the liquid in the mount provides some free light.
One time I went a bit overboard and built a stone building all the way around, with tall walls, and even built a loft over top of the skull. Bonemass ended up spawning in the loft area and seemed to get stuck in the loft and roof structure. I don't know why he couldn't tear it down, but it was the easiest Bonemass fight ever!
That's actually my strategy for killing Trolls; run for gaps between trees and/or rocks that I can squeeze through, but the Troll has to go around. Gives me the breathing room I need to turn and take a well-placed arrow shot.
Another, similar strategy that you can mix with that, especially if your stamina is getting low, is to just slow down to a walk to let him catch up, which lets you build up stamina. As soon as you hear him start his attack, which he has to stop for a while to execute, sprint forward a bit, turn, and fire.
That's especially useful to keep his attention if he start to return to his spawn area. I hate it when I turn around to fire at him and he's walking away, and I have to chase him.

There are two types of trees in the swamp, and most of those look like the unbreakable type. Why would you need to lead bonemass to your fortification? Just build one next to his alter? Your health is also way to low IMO. That's the health level that I start the game with.
