Archery?

Been a while since I played and started a new character. When using the bow my character fires no where need the targeting reticle. It's far lower and off the left which makes using the bow very difficult. I tried this with a character with a skill of 80 in bows and it's the same. The only difference being that he can shoot faster.

Pretty sure it wasn't this way last time I played,

Here's a video for demonstration...

Anyone surprised that "Crude Bow" sucks when it comes to sending arrows straight where you aim?
Yeah, get a better bow, the difference is immense between crude and the next one, still gets better with each new bow.

...no surprise, whatsoever...climb the tech ladder to success!---and get your skill level to increase as well. Crude bow at Skill 100 much better than at <50.

and distance... this is not quake railgun, the arrows do not fly as you want here to the horison, and you are shooting straight, instantly working against physics.

Just to be sure, you are holding the button long enough for the aiming circle to close?

I think - empirical observation- that the quality of the bow improves the drop much more than skills.

Upgrade your bow.

I agree with those above, upgrade the bow. With each tier bow you go up the accuracy improves dramatically. The first bow to the second is a big jump in accuracy, so on and so forth. By the time you get the draugr fang the sway in your shots is minuscule.

It's just the crude bow, it has a very low velocity and drops quickly, as well as a minimum spread. Personally I found it pretty fun at long ranges, very satisfying to pop a deer from like 200 ft. Once you get to the huntsman you pretty much just aim right above your target regardless of range.

I use First person view mod makes bow use a lot more accurate.

Upgrade to a better bow asap, with the fine wood bow you don't have to aim off nearly as much as with the crude bow. Some people say the variety of arrows may matter too (with wood being the worst)

I recall it always being like this. Then again, the vast majority of my shots were long range because I used stealth a lot during my first playthrough when Valheim first came out so it was very easy to notice.

It's significantly less of an issue for medium and short range shots.
