Yea, totally random - on 1st playthrough abandoned at iron age, my starter island had gigantic black forest in middle and swamp in lower south. So meadows all around outskirts, giant BF middle, tip of southern area swamp. Nice all around starter island.

But on my new 2nd run just started, my starter island only has meadows and one small BF in the south, nothing else. The BF is quite small, enough so I had to replant some trees for easy access to core wood.

Still searching for swamp with my boat but keep finding islands with only meadows+BF.

Just southwest of the spawn-in the shoreline leads to an amazing "bay' area with a meadow and right north of that is a nice expanse of Blackforest. That's where I set my base up, in that meadow. The huge Bay leads to the actual Ocean ( so you can have a dock) and there is a mountain right there and the Blackforest I mentioned. I've now played 2 games with this seed and that mountain usually has 2-3 silver veins in it. Which is super because your house is right there :) Hehe.

Just watch out choppin trees at night close to the mountain because sometimes wolves will come down attracted to the noise. I built watch towers and deliberately used them to kill the wolves attracted to the noise, jump start on resources hahaha :)

Anyway, this is my fav seed. I use it for all kinds of games, from 7 days to Minecraft. It's always amazing :)

also a tip when you havent got bronze yet you can chop down wrecked longships for lots of fine wood, if you spot any.

My first map had a tiny black forest in one side that made me underestimate the sizes they could get. On the same map, i went to explore the shore of an huuuge black forest where i almost lost my equipment. From then on, i only explore the shores on boat.
