on dying, make an option "not to loose inventory"

Look, some is ok with this, but im not.
Im totally fine with durability loss, and even skill loss.

But for god sake, lets have an option for players to play with "no inventory loss"
For me this just breaks the will. its sad enough you have to loose your boat to.

That would take away the challenge. Put yourself in a handicap mode.
I died several times in the Mountain by wolf, drakes, etc
And died trying to get to my body in the snow, with 25 hp
I had to come up with strategy to get to the top mountain with a naked body.
1. I started setting up campire on the routes to my body
2. I leave enough food in my best in case I need to recover my body
3. Make a 2nd character to clear the path to your corps,
4. Be creative.

Wait, so there's no more tombstone? I was about to log a bug...
If this is intentional, I'm gonna try and roll with it. I'm always up for a challenge XD

No they’re still tombstones that have all your gear OP is asking for your gear to stay on you when you die instead of having to retrieve it.

Actually there's no way to confirm that - he/she never mentions the tombstone or lack of it. Could be a new player, just running the game and dying and losing everything, like my partner did last night. Several times in a row. No tombstone.

Considering the other thread they had just started which was complaining about another core mechanic I just assumed that they would rather have the penalty be removed all together not that they had lost all of their stuff because of a bug.

I keep writing it: difficulty slider oh so needs to be a thing. Easy for the OP, Normal for us... normal people, Hardcore for the crazy people that have played it all before and think Valheim is too easy.

I agree with this. I appreciate a good challenge, I love getting my brain to work, but I personally find that there's a fine line between healthy challenge and unnecessary stress. Something I learned in my short time with Dark Souls (I know this game is completely different) is that I, as a gamer, usually don't have the time to dedicate that much effort into progressing, and end up playing other games.

I think this game handles a lot well and creates a challenging environment which can be learned and adapted to. Losing items on death can be, as the OP said, will breaking, especially if one doesn't have spares or back ups. Yes, this can be used to better one's self and learn form, but in the heat of the moment, when one wanted thought, "yeah, I'll go gathering or take on these monsters," and to then be met with a loss like that can be quite defeating. I'm not far enough into the game to feel such distress, but am aware of what it's like and it can be more agonizing than motivating.

This game has challenge, and is honestly more fun in most areas than Dark Souls, but I do agree that something along the lines of difficulty customization would help give what most players enjoy from there games, and something I think this one does really well already; options. The developers are still working tirelessly on this game, it'll be interesting to see if they implement something like difficulty customization or a slider of sorts.
