Once you have the boar fenced in leave render distance for a second to reset its aggression and it will be calm again.

stay close but just let them see you

Might be a bug, or there is a mob nearby. As long as they don't see you and have food, they should be showing hearts and not freaking out. Might have to try another boar if it doesn't calm down.

That did the trick! I placed torches around the pen, that was not a good idea. As soon as I removed them and distanced myself, the boar got yellow hearts above its head and it started working.

If your are close, it will pop up in yellow.. boar is tamed. or you can check on the boar how many % its tamed... it takes longer if they are alarmed bec the taming stop when they running around scared .... so no fires or your self or Skeletons that spawn in Meadows at night :=)

Alarm pauses taming progress but does not set it back.
