This is what happens when you don't keep working on your "beta" game.

Doesn't really matter, though. They could close up shop right now and still come out with a fortune in sales.

OP- Valheim is one of thee-most-successful best selling Steam EA-launches of 'all time', whatever the Dev's are doing its definitely working for them ;-).

The development of Valheim is a bit on the slow side but I'll echo an earlier comment and say that this is a 20$ game that had more than 20$ worth of content in it at the start. But that maybe has less impact on overall popularity than other factors like difficulty level and how punishing the game is on mistakes. many players think that they are getting into a more casual game than Valheim is. It does't hold your hand at all and many folks are only one bad death away from finding another game

You can tame and ride Lox around. I don't see the reasoning here.

Valheim doesn't depend on hype for sales. It's not an MMORPG. They never promised anything. Show me ONE time they used the word promise. I'll wait.

Stop the bs already. Exercise patience or simply play something else and check back in occasionally on progress.

I would add that they've also stated the aim is for Valheim to have a definitive end as well. So at some point many people's need/desire for new content is going to be left unsatisfied regardless. To be certain if someone paid $20 for this game and doesn't feel like there's already $20 worth of content to explore and interact with, there's not really much to be done different about that from a developer standpoint. They simply need to continue making the game they envisioned from the outset.

I hope they keep at it but it is already well worth the cost.

Lots of potential. This is a somewhat new type of gaming genre. Can see all sorts of possibilities, like imagine if they added a toolbox for people to create lore and quests, etc., maybe up server pop to 50 or 100. A new type of DDO experience, would be awesome.

And many many other ideas from just adding more stuff that would make it more fun and challenging to ideas like above that really expand into all new types of gaming.

If only they added Horses into the game, the playerbase would of never dropped.

I sincerely doubt adding horses would stop the playerbase dropping. And it's natural for the playerbase to drop regardless.

Probably best to fully release the game first then start advertising it.

This game has already sold millions of copies. It's a huge commercial success. The only reason why no one is talking about it anymore because development is occurring at a snail's pace. The game has been released in early access for over a year and it's only seen one real content update which didn't add much.

I think it's safe to assume that the developers are already rich and don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about their product anymore despite everything that was promised. Which is pretty disappointing since the game had huge potential and everyone loved what was available at release. I was expecting the game to be updated in a similar manner to Terraria, Stardew Valley and other
popular indie games but it never happened.

Yeah, it would have been amazing if they had followed the original roadmap they released.

Many players binge played Valheim for a month or so, but in doing so they finished all the current content. It'll jump up when they release the new biomes until players finish that content then it'll drop again.

They have not stopped working on the game, and if you read the announcements you'd know why the roadmap and development plan has changed.

There are still close to 20k people in game. I think a lot of us are just waiting for an update because we binged this amazing game.
