the easiest way until they add the 'can i play daddy' mode is to simply restore your character backup after dying, which puts you at the spawn point with all your stuff and no skill loss. It leaves your populated corpse, so you can duplicate your stuff if you choose to go get it.

f5 devcommands can pause to turn on, god and fly are life savers. yeah player punishment is really bad in this game.

Not yet, options for it are coming in the next update though, no idea when it’ll drop, but hopefully soon.

The answer is "mods", at least until the "difficulty sliders" update actually occurs.

Just be aware that mods are currently unsupported, which effectively means "you broke it yourself" if you run into any problems; the resolution for mod-caused issues is usually either "wait for the mod authors to get around to updating" or "start over without the mods that broke your game".
