Tips for finding boss locations
Any tips for finding boss locations? The Elder was fine as there were loads of runes in the burial sites. Bonemass I lucked out and found the altar quickly, but have since only seen 1 rune indicating his location. Am currently stuck looking for Moder. Explored half a dozen large mountains and no altar or runes. Kind of annoying how rare the runes seem to be...

If im not mistaken to find the boss via the rune stones you find it in the ruins in the mountain biomes ( where the big green strong orcs are or where skeletons are )
I hope that narrow it in a bit of where to look in the mountain biome.
Regarding finding the right location for the boss.. well that is tough i also used allot of time.
It turned out the boss was at a biome in the other end of the map and i would not have found the boss location without the help of the rune stones.
But that is also what is nice about the game, the map is randomly generated every time.
just a small sidestep / tip.. If you run around in the mountains then take some time to gather wolf skin and make that into wolf armour. Its allot better than troll armour.
I cannot remember maybe you also need the abiilty to make iron armour and iron items to be able to craft wolf armour.
Wolf armour also protect you against the cold so you dont need potions anymore to keep warm.
A good way to win against the wolf is a sword and a shield. when the wolf attack raise the shield and let it bite and then hit it and do the same over again and again.
( avoid fighting with a pack of wolf its though )
Yes you can also use bow and arrow but the wolf is fast and will often be near you and attack very fast
- Oh an pro tip.. befor going into ANY mountain area build a house at the edge of the biome so you can respawn near the biome so you dont have to run so far to get your gear again.

Valheim wouldn't be such a good game for people that like exploring if you found everything in the first place you looked. I'm on a new world now, and was ecstatic to find The Elder is 3/4's of the way to the map edge, and i had decided not to use portals this time around.
The voyage is going to be epic, and in a karve too.

https://valheim-map.world/Thanks, that's pretty much exactly what I was after. Moder is located in the mountains. To discover her exact summoning location, you need to either find a rune in the mountains, or find the altar while exploring. thats really the only way that i know of unless you put your seed into the online seed thing and find it that way
I don't mind if the boss is far away, but after a week or so of searching mountains it would have been nice to have found a location runestone.

What i always do, once i have some troll armor, is run the shores of whatever landmass i'm on, tracing it's general outline on my map. Whenever i feel adventurous i will further explore the unmapped areas. If there is too much water between your current landmass and what might be a new one, build a bench at the shore and mark it on your map.
It takes a while to truly understand that Valheim's exploration isn't as similar to Minecraft as one might initially think. You wanna send all that precious metal to your base? Better get used to sailing. I HATED this at first, but the sense of survival and accomplishment is really inspiring when you succeed.......also crushing if you fail. Go big or go home.
