Same here. There's something about Valheim. I love starting fresh.

Self imposed perma death is best. Wouldn't want my worlds or characters vanishing on me. I am enjoying going back now and bringing up to speed many of the worlds I abandoned during death runs. All so that I have more worlds to take into the Mistlands!

That said I guess at some point I need to bring all those dead characters up to speed skill wise at some point... if I feel like it ha ha.

I found for perma death it was best to not play that save after the sun goes down. Too risky.

Eh, rare creatures are the only RNG that I wouldn't feel comfortable with for that kind of run. You can be more than capable of handling an area. Block force and block armour works against the locals and you parry every time. You can take plenty of hits too just in case because you have good food buffs.

Each one of them takes 75% of your health away in one attack and knockback stun you even when you parry. My first perma death run I got kind of portal crazy.

Always had a portal within running range for escape.. just extend out making a chain of portals ha ha... that got old fast as I became more accustomed to threat levels.. my biggest enemy by far was a tree killing me early on.

My last perma death run ended in a unique way.. just starting in on bronze age, map had very few choices and only one that really stood out. A very thin strip of land between Meadows and Black Forest with Ocean on one side and a very very steep Mountain on the other. Just over the border was a nice big copper node jutting out begging to be plucked.

All was going well, was doing smelting and forging locally, portalling in coal from my main base. I had rather frequent visitors in the form of grey dwarves from one side and greylings from the other, but was more of a break from mining than any real danger. Then I started mining the back portion of the node.

Unbeknownst to me at the time when I started in on the back of the node I activated the chunk at the top of the mountain. First thing I knew of it was when I got dive bombed by two drakes, caught with my pants down, frozen, slowed, and soon dead.

As to why those drakes descended.. that took some figuring out after the fact. It seems there was a battle on high between the drakes and a golem. Somehow the golem got knocked partway down the mountainside and continuing attacks by the drakes just kept skiing him further down.

Even if I wanted to continue that run it would be rather hopeless, as the golem began attacking my smelter ju;st after respawn while I was still going 'WTF??'.

Gotta love this game, it always manages to come up with something new.

I really like this new start, got to the elder and the trader is right there.
Only have the coin to buy the belt so far but will go back after getting more coins.

Sadly, self enforced. Would be neat if we got a death report and auto delete of char & world. Maybe someday.

[Edit]: Still, to have any degree of success at permadeath runs, you need to develop a degree of self discipline that would, at least to me, make it uncomfortable to cheat myself.

I'm trying to populate the server. There's already 2 other players beside me. Server is on decent hardware that's barely stressed with 3 players.
I put loot boxes with valuable items across the map for people to take.

Only rules are dont destroy other peoples stuff and dont steal other peoples treasures. Other than that, do whatever you want. Server is up 24/7.

I don't think many people realize just how hard Valheim actually is when you give your character only 1 life, or even 1 life per Forsaken power gained. It becomes hardcore roguelike in its difficulty.

yes i would like vanilla game to have this as an option...despite the fact that story-wise as an already dead warrior... i get to fight for eternity anyway :-)

This has too little of real survival genre , try the long dark , green hell or p.zomboid if you really are into the genre

Yeah because of my age and health I have to deliberately slow myself down sometimes, to prevent 'dying from playing at 4AM with little sleep and no coffee, or conversely when I get those 'hold my beer' moments. Those are the times I try to restrict myself to building infrastructure, tinkering around with warehousing, or something nice and mostly safe like that.

Judging by how long the updates take you could probably mine every hill and chop down all the forests before having to restart.
