2 stars Fulings

Am not a child of sadness , but my last experience with Fuhlings mare 2 with the normal black metal shield were not so fine ...! (after the first blow, it took a while until I recovered and promptly came the 2te redeeming).
ps. that was a long time ago ...
Does anyone know how it turns out with the black metal tower shield in close combat! ?

So I took my main Dahlgren (died over a hundred times, skills are low) to my "arena" world.

I've built there a small roman style arena to not only let enemy mobs fight against each other in a controlled setting, but also so I can try myself at them.

Well, here's my equipment:
Full lvl 3 padded armor (head, chest, legs), lvl 4 linen cape (for those four additional armor!), lvl 2 Black Metal tower shield.

Food was:
Lox pie, wolf skewer, blood pudding, almost 190 health.

I spawned a ONE star fuling berserker.

Boy, did it not end well.

"Me smash!"

Yes, he did smash. Me. First hit I could kinda block. The next hit took a massive chunk out of my health, the third hit sent me to my instant death.

I don't even want to know how I would fare against a TWO star fuling berserker.

Edit: I raised my blocking skill to 50 and tried again. Still no chance. Same result.

Only with Bonemass activated was I able to defeat him.

No equipment in the game can survive contact with a two-star Fuling. Valheim's damage is both raw power and armor penetration, so the absolutely insane 100% attack boost ends up doing more than triple damage. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid of 2-star Fulings.

Bonemass power is your friend. It reduces the enemy's attack power by half, which in turn, along with armor, reduces damage by far more than half. A 2-star Fuling with Bonemass is suddenly as scary as a 0-star Fuling, and anything below that is easy to roll over. This is the main reason why you should always keep Bonemass as your primary skill.

Fulings have a particular weakness to ice arrows. The freezing effect slows them down and helps split up enemy groups to make them easy targets.

That's what I wanted to know

I use a fully upgraded Black Metal shield, but have never tried the tower shield. I almost always engage them in melee combat when I find them. I wear Wolf Armour chest, Fenris legs & helm, and use the Silver Knife along with Black Metal Shield, and 2 star fulings/beserkers are the only creatures that have close to a 50% chance of killing me in melee engagements.
If your block skill is over 50 then you're probably safe from the normal two star fulings. The berserkers however.

I can block Fuling berserkers and lox with Fenris set and a lvl 3 BM tower shield, but I haven't tried starred Fuling (normal and berserkers) with my padded set and the tower shield.

I know that my fourth char, Gudrun, accidentally came across a one star Fuling berserker in full mountain gear (lvl 3), and had serious problems with him.

Draugr Fang and needles it was. No close quarters combat possible.

No equipment in the game can survive contact with a two star fuling. Valheim damage is both raw power AND armor penetration, so the absolutely insane 100% attack boost ends up dealing more than three times the damage. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid of 2 star fulings.

Bonemass power is your friend. It reduces enemy attack power in half, which once again double dips with armor to reduce damage by far more than half. A bonemass 2 star fuling is suddenly as scary as 0 star fulings, and anything less than that is trivial to roll over. It's the main reason to keep bonemass as your primary skill forever.

Fulings have a particular weakness to ice arrows. The freezing effect slows them down, and helps split up enemy packs to become easy targets.

You also need the right yums to face them. Get food that gets your hp over 180 and adequate amount of stamina too. May I suggest Bread, Lox Meat Pie and Wolf skewer, or the expensinve Serpent Stew, Blood pudding and Lox Pie combo.

Not difficult. Don't need to block because...

1. They will stage you everytime, and you will take damage anyway.

2. When they go to swing, simply backup out of range and immediately counterattack.

3. Or run to a spot you can jump onto where they can't reach you and use the bow to kill them.

It's better to use shields that parry. 2 star fulings are no biggy, just as long as they are not in packs.

If you can just pick them off with a drauger fang and flame arrows or needle arrows if you're feeling particularly fancy.
