Tried everything to fix audio, still no sound at all in-game. :(

Why isn't this being spoken about more? I feel like this is a huge issue.

Every game except Valheim works for audio, and I have all my drivers updated etc.

No, its not a razer headset. I'm using a headset plugged into the computer's audio output. But, I get sound on everything else I play. It's just Valheim that doesn't do it. Even unplugging the headset does nothing. :(

I would guess it's not talked about more because it's probably a very rare issue. This is the first time I've heard of it since the start of early access.

Since there's not much to go with to try and guess what the problem is could you list what you've done to try and fix the problem?

Ok, here goes:

- I updated all of my audio output and input sound drivers.
- Uninstalled/Reinstalled the game
- Played with sound mixer to ensure audio devices were working properly
- Went into game registry and checked the game's registry for any abnormalities
- I also verified the integrity of the game files
- General troubleshooting of audio issues.

These are all I can remember off the top of my head.

It's hard to tell what the issue is as every game I own except for Valheim works.

Ok, that is a decently comprehensive list there. Out of curiosity, have you tried a different output device besides the headset to see if it's actually the headset that is the problem for some reason?
Also what headset are you using? And are you using the mobo audio connections or do you have a dedicated sound card?

Thanks! Using a direct connection to the audio out on the Gaming Laptop!
My headset is an Astro A40, works with everything except this game. Tried other headsets and also tried the game without headset.

Outcome is still the same. No audio played whenever I load up the game. Re-installing didn't fix it either...

Oh yeah, updating windows didn't fix the issue neither!

Hmm... since everything besides Valheim is working as intended and the problem is there with multiple devices then the only thing that comes to mind is that there's something conflicting between the game and your laptops audio soft/hardware. I admit it's a really weird sounding problem but laptops tend to be notorious for having weird issues that aren't present on other machines. It's the biggest reason I hate troubleshooting laptops, what works on one of them probably won't on another.

Might be that it gets solved on some update later on, but sucks to have to wait for that. Can't really think what else to try though, outside an external usb soundcard I guess, sorry. =/

Not sure if you own other Unity games, but found this:
Someone had no sound in all Unity games.
After disabling Asus Sonic Studio 3 it worked for him.

Thanks for trying to help. Yeah I feared it might be the case. It's just massively frustrating as I don't hear about this being spoken very often, and I enjoy hearing what's around me during game play. I'm at a severe disadvantage lol.

Yeah, audio is a pretty big part of gaming so it sucks big time not to have it. Also I think you might really be one of only hand fullnof people to even come across this issue. You might want to give a try at contacting the devs directly or going to the bug tracker https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/
to report it.

May sound stupid, but did you check volume mixer?

I have had that before. I watch videos while playing a game so i mute the game via volume mixer. A week later i boot up the same game and there is no audio. Then it takes me 5 minutes of troubleshooting to remember that i muted it...

I actually have the same problem, for this and other Unity games, but I have a fairly weird workaround to it.

At a guess, the game is detecting a different 'default' audio device than whatever you're actually using. I use the 'Nvidia RTX Voice' program to help gate low-level audio over my microphone, and since it registers itself as an audio device Unity might be trying to play audio through that program, even though it has no actual output. If I disable it and relaunch the game, though, sound suddenly starts working flawlessly.

Odd thing is, this only works if I have the program active before I launch the game; if I launch with the program already turned off, it won't play audio even after relaunching. I have to turn it on, launch the game, turn it off, then relaunch the game to get any kind of audio.

Hey there! Thanks for the advice!

I'm guessing that's a propriety software that Asus uses. I own an MSI (MSI GX63VR-NE1070 15.6" 120Hz GTX 1070 i7-7700HQ 16 GB Memory 256GB SSD 1 TB HDD Windows 10 VR Ready Gaming Laptop) gaming laptop.

You think that disabling the equivalent of Asus Sonic Studio 3 for MSI might work for Valheim? I don't think I even own that software. I have Realtek HD Audio if that means anything?

Well, Realtek HD Audio is very common for onboard soundcards, I think there would be a lot of others posts if this would cause the problem. Not sure what happens if you disable it.

Is there any other audio software installed? On my MSI laptop there was some audio software named Nahimic installed which didn't work properly.

I already did. One of the very first things I did actually to make sure it wasn't me accidentally doing this. No, the issue is not there.

Ahh, I don't have Nvidia RTX voice... Also that sounds a bit frustrating having to do that all the time haha. I don't have any Unity run games (that I know of) .
