The mystery of the disappearing onions

I am suspecting there is an onion glitch. I found 3 seeds in the mountains and planted 3 of these in a wooden wall surrounded garden (together with other crops like turnip and carrot but separate. One they were onions, I planted two of them in the secure place again next to the wall, and one I planted in another world of a friend in a secure place (his walled garden). All the onions disappeared without a trace. Other crops had no issue. Anyone having similar experiences or know what is happening?

I came here to post 2 and 3. Also don't kick your plants that's mean.

Could be a mod issue, could be a syncing issue with your saves. Plants don't wither and die they only have spacing requirements and plains stuff needs to be in plains.

It's not. I use plants as decor and they never decay.

Plants wither and die again if they are too close to a structure or other plant or if they are planted in the wrong biome.

These are basic conditions in the standard version of Valheim.

The fact that plants do not wither and die is because they, if they are used as decoration, comply with your basic requirements (distance to plants and structures, biome).

Plants can wither and die and do so even if the conditions for it are met!

if planted too close, usually one dies and one lives.
its the 'next to a walll' secure place that probably burned you.
Next time, plant something you have plenty of like carrots and make sure your garden plot is working. Onion seeds can be painfully rare.

I was having the same trouble with turnips. Garden was fenced in with the wooden fence pieces, never saw boards eating them, but since I have surrounded my garden with a stockade fence it hasn't happened. Garden patch is about 8x10 so at least some of the plants were not near building pieces.

Thanks for the feedback. Next time I will plant them in the middle of the patch and hopefully it will work better. I do not think they are withered because I planted them after the carrot seeds and the carrot seeds were still fine.

Isn't it that if your crops are staying too long in the ground; they die off. At least I saw that happening when I first bought the game long time ago. Some of the crops that were not collected withered away, first I thought someone picked them but everyone said they didnt.
Another could be a pig or deer perhaps? coming in to eat them and run away.
