Thombstone dissapearing why it is still an issue?

I died yesterday, in spot that i can reach both by land and by sea. I was frustrated so I logged off. Today i log in, I do the corpse run, and there is no tombstone to find, nor the materials for boat that was there nor for portal. How its still an issue? I have close to 500 hours played, but things like this puts this game into "cheats on or dont play" category. How its not fixed after almoust a year and millions of euros you got guys? Its cornerstone of the gameplay that really makes people want to quit and not recommend game to any more friends. Whats up with you not fixing the dissapearing tombstones?

No, you can't. But you can allow time for it as long as other things need to get done.

Devs should provide an option to make lose all an opt-in until the core mechanic it is fixed.
Trivial to do and then that is handled.

While bugs are normal in early access, having a core mechanic broken is not okay, thats an alpha thing you fix before even considering going early access.

And sure there can be rare scenarios that are impossible to find out before a lot of people play, but this is an issue that has plagued the game for some time now, so it is stretching things a bit at this stage.

First, this bug is not a core mechanic. It is a failure to save data that occurs under unknown circumstances. It does not make the game unplayable if you do what you should do with all of your game data anyway and back up regularly.

Why should the devs drop everything to solve a difficult bug that can't cause real problems if you to take the same precautions for Valheim that you should take for every game?

They shouldn't. This topic is silly.

I assume the world keeps going if you play on a multiplayer setting in Valheim as well, no? Could it be someone took your stuff? I am genuinely concerned about this, because if I were to die and lose my stuff now by a disappearing tombstone, I'd literally lose like 30+ hours of gameplay and it would likely break my seed since certain resources were super limited so far...

The way this bug works is your tombstone disappears from the map and from the location if you can remember where it was. It may have something to do with how quickly you exit. It is not easily reproducible, and it makes no sense.

I have died hundreds of times and this only happened to me once. I tried to reproduce it, going to the same location over and over and quitting as fast as I could after getting killed with no success.

How can a process that works hundreds of times suddenly not work? As a programmer, I would not want to be assigned this bug.

Give it to the new guy. Seriously. Fresh eyes. But they shouldn't work on it until the game is finished.

Yeah how in the world does an Early Access game have bugs.... jesus
I know right, especially common ones after an entire year of hardcore development on their part...I mean H&H update was SOOOOO massive I had to take an entire week just to soak it in...jesus right. Probably shouldn't give snide comments when others have legit complaints ;)

There is nothing legitimate about complaining about bugs in an EA game. A rational person would report the bug to the devs and move on.

hmm, well if reporting the bugs to the devs gets nowhere, which it clearly has in a year because its been reported...also just because its early access doesn't mean devs shouldn't be held to some standard. Give it up dude, that argument has long sailed given the timeframe thats passed. If people don't demand better of what they pay for...I guess you get what you pay for 20 years down the line. People have every right to complain about bugs in an early access game after a year...and very little progress. I mean by your own admission you should just treat every early access game as if it were a finished product with no reasonable development pace...that's your argument? I mean 3 months, even maybe 6 months of little progress, ok give it time...its been a year dude...lol

It is almost like they should have included some kinda of dev commands to fix these bugs yourself, oh wait..

The bit where you logged off means this might be more of a save rollback situation than a tombstone bug.

Which means it might be the dreaded Steam cloud again.

Fixing every bug as you go is not efficient. The disappearing tombstone bug strikes rarely and is easily remedied by keeping backups. If the solution on the code side is not that obvious, the best thing for the devs to do is ignore it, for now, and keep working on features.

I have run into this bug once. I tried multiple times to replicate it, getting killed and esc-quitting as fast as I could. No joy. This thing is going to be hard to fix, and they should not fix it until the polishing phase.

In all software it is normal that some bugs take a long time to fix.
