Playing it mainly solo?

Hey guys,
Im thinking about buying this game but Im wondering if its worth it if youre a mainly solo based player. Is there enough content for singleplayer? How does the dungeon system work? is it like that you can join a dungeon queue or sth and join other players? What role does the multiplayer mode play when it comes to solo play and vice versa? Is there a way to search for other random players?

Would you recommend it for solo players?

Many questions so I want to say thanks to you in advance for answering <3

This would feel pretty empty solo imo, corpse runs would be iffy, and building something just for yourself seems meh

I know it sounds weird but building for yourself can be fun. Instead of building huge palaces, I try to figure out how to build practical little time-saving spaces that are easy to defend. Kind of tiny home or minimalist--and still make them a bit interesting.

Everyone's experience will differ but I've gotten over 1300 hours of gameplay out of Valheim and most of those are solo. If all you want to do is beat bosses and get to the "end" of the game then you'll still get as much entertainment as you would most AAA titles with single player storylines. If you like sandbox type games where you can build things, explore, and generally make your own adventures, you'll get much much more out of the game.

I think it depends mostly on how focused you are on combat as the core of the game. If you're just here for the boss run the difference between solo and multi is going to be minimal.

As a builder I only really consider Valheim as a multiplayer game because why would I build houses and castles that no-one else will ever step inside? My other common role of rescue taxi sailor doesn't really apply to solo games either.

solo has the appropriate challenge level, but of course this game is fun with friends. You can play this game to fight the bosses but it also has that relaxing builder flow to it.

I Only play solo a few thousand in game days.. building once mastered is fun..but tricky to learn... (ask Mr n Mrs Google if building is frustrating you..or ask here) . its a no pressure to progress game.. you can treat it as a sandbox.. or start new worlds whenever you like..

Note this doesn't mean you have to start a new world or anything, you can invite friends into a normally solo world at any time, or copy saves to and from servers. It's basically the same multiplayer deal as Minecraft, Terraria and Starbound.

Group is fun but solo is totally do-able if you have a tolerance for grinding and lonely corpse retrievals. You just need a bit more sneakiness and tactics.

The monster spawning increases for multi-player games, The bosses and several other monsters are more difficult because there are no distractions but you can beat them all by yourself, for sure.

The one caution I will give you is this. Development is very slow so if you purchase, purchase in mind that what you are getting today, may be all you ever get.

That said, you should get at least 50 hours of gameplay just with what is there even if you are not a base-building architecture fanatic.

You can also jump worlds with a character (provided that's permitted by the world owner)

i play mainly solo, game's great. there are only a few items that are multiplayer-only, like the totems that lock down building in an area, or the cartography table. everything else is available and relevant to a solo player.

a small note is that hunting sea serpents was always a favorite of mine but since they rebalanced the harpoon stamina usage, its definitely more difficult to drag onto land as a solo player. with 2 people alternating harpoons, it would probably be a lot easier.

I play solo and I would say it's worth it, there's plenty to do as you progress through the material/tech 'tree'.
There are small dungeons scattered around that you can just pop in. It's not WoW, the dungeons aren't MP instances.
MP is just playing the game with other people for the most part, there isn't anything special added on, so it's mostly coop. You can search and join randos servers, or set one up yourself.

Solo is totally individual from multiplayer.

You can open your game up to others but need to start the game up that way.

Crypts are just areas you explore.

Multiplayer is max 10 people unless modded. Servers are all hosted by players. Almost all are locked due to people going in and doing harm. So to join others you need to find a group and ask for password.

So solo you don't need to worry about randos popping in or anything.

Also you are not limited on number of worlds or characters you have.
World and character saves are separate so you can take any of your characters on any world.

Game is well balanced for solo. Most of my hours are solo.

The pro of solo is taht you can go at your own pace and build your base to your liking.
the con is that the grind can get boring alone.

Also, for people who do both, playing with a group can make your solo play feel more rewarding. If you find/farm/create more than you need of something, for example, you have the satisfaction of knowing it will help a friend.
