I played some time on a public server where I had a bakery. People came to "buy" bread, pie, pudding and left some coins for them.
Selling stuff for in-game coins isn't illegale, but you must have some clear rules set. :)

yes it is 100% ..... legal ?
Is there any multiplayer games that does not allow you to trade ingame items for ingame gold ?, leaving the whole goldseller in other games talk out of this.
also as others point out it is also really useless in this game on open public servers and would only be a thing in closed games with frinds that are deeply into RP.

yes, please become a gold seller so we can line up to buy it. There is almost no money in this game, and it takes months to farm just a few coins. Also the game will release soon, so you want to get a jump on this as there will be many customers. You will get even more customers if you remember to offer sex leg.

yea, that's what i mean. like the usual rpg stuff where the npc sells weapons for gold. i wanna be that type of npc. If you mean trading between players, nothing about that would be illegal. If your friend happens to get ahold of a weapon you really want and you have a treasure trove they are willing to trade it for, go right ahead. The only real use for gold/treasure in the actual game is selling it off to Haldor (the merchant NPC you can eventually find) for unique items you generally can't find elsewhere in the world. In some ways that can make such a trade a great deal since Haldor does sell exclusive items, but it also means there's really only a limited number of things you have available to buy from him and some only unlock after certain points in progression and not many need to be bought repeatedly. So overall, another player's perspective on the current worth of gold to them can vary wildly but if you can both agree on a price there shouldn't be a problem.
Trading in games normally only becomes illegal, in an actual legal sense, when you sell things external of the game in unapproved ways, such as selling your entire account to another player on certain games. I'm not sure any of those situations would even apply in Valheim.

If you want to be your own version of Haldor, there are certain items that actually work well for that depending on your stage of progression. Assuming you want to be the one selling them. Like early in game the surtling cores normally found in dungeons are often coveted, but if you are the first on the server to make it to a nice large swamp you can set up a geyser farm and collect them freely to sell to the newer players who can't seem to find an unraided dungeon reasonably close to start. Those cores lose value after the initial forging setup is made though (but will still always be useful in wards and portals). Serpent scales is another players may be after but not willing to invest the effort into obtaining themselves, but those also have little use beyond the serpent shield and for many that would be around swamp-tier. Beyond that there are others but Im not sure how far youve gotten in progress so I'll avoid spoiling anything. Some boss items may be good for this if you also dont mind grinding said bosses though (events like raids are based on the overall progress on the server, so a fresh player who hasnt even left the meadows yet can end up getting snow based raids if someone is that far ahead on the server, they dont necessarily have to beat the boss to catch up if someone is selling their main reason to beat the boss though). yea, that's what i mean. like the usual rpg stuff where the npc sells weapons for gold. i wanna be that type of npc.

Hello OP :)
I just wanted to notify you that it is possible to spawn almost all ingame items on a (private) server (and these items can be moved freely between worlds) - so be careful with whom you want to trade your hard-earned things (or gold) with ;)

not with irl cash, but the gold you earn from killing mobs and or selling to haldor. Not sure what you mean? To the trader NPC sure, if you mean to other players for cash? Well morally no, and practicaly its stoopid as everything can be spawned in by a server command and transferred to a another server at at any time with a character.
So depending on what you mean yeah you could but if you (and I don't think you could have) meant for real money - only to really really stupid people.
If that was ot happen I suspect the Devs would quickly put a clause in their T&C outlawing it on the grounds the really stupid need to be protected against their own dumbassrey
But if you've not found him yet ten yeah later there is a Trader that exchanges items for gold which you can then buy stuff from him with it.
edit: selling items like weapons, artifacts and such using the in-game gold from the mobs you kill and selling to haldor.
