It is already a feature. Press ESC, press Logout. Done. The world is paused until you are ready to come back and log back in.

I don't think a pause button in single player is much to ask for. Doesn't make the game easier or harder with it. Some things are legitimate Quality of Life issues.

there is a reason, why i am not playing MP, it is the real life. no pause possibilty in SP is so stupid it hurts. i remember all the satisfactory arguments too, you can box yourself in , you can go to a safe area... I am not buying a game without a simple pause function. I dont want to keep my children away, just because im fighting some sort of scarry beeing, there is always a need for a pause function and if you dont want it, dont use it.

The same goes for a save function.

+1 for the pause button. Logging out in the middle of a fight because of a phone call, someone at the door, whatever else, is a pain. By the time it takes you to hit ESC, move your cursor to the logout button and press it, your character might already be dead to a goblin spear in the face for instance. Also pretty sure if you load back in when tons of enemies are around, you'll be obliterated before you can do anything.

Even if you're not in a fight, You're still wasting time logging back in, which can quickly become a pain in the *** for people who need to pause frequently because of kids or whatever. I understand you can't pause in multiplayer, but single player should be an easy enough fix. This is basic Quality of Life stuff. Like being able to Repair All with a single click, hold the E key down for half a second to fill a Klint up to max wood instead of spamming the key 25 times or holding it down to take FOREVER to fill the thing up 1 wood per second, setting a quantity of carrot soup to craft so you don't need to sit there crafting them one by one when you've got a hundred of them to craft. Lots of little improvements that don't affect the "hardcore" nature of this game. Freeing the player of unnecessary clicks and load times is a no brainer positive for all.

And don't you dare pretend this stuff is "catering to casuals wha wha wha". This is just smart game design. You'd love to have those improvements as well.
