i encountered this yesterday, slightly pushed it back into the water and was able to pick it up again

There is a known bug where you cannot pick up a certain fish after you drop it on the ground. I think this is a different thing however, you are no longer supposed to be able to pick up fish that you have not caught using the fishing rod.

This poses an obvious problem, that we can now start hanging our fish on the "Item Stands", but if we REMOVE them then the fish get stuck on the ground, we cannot pick them up, even after we already caught and hung them up ourselves. Now our homes are littered with Fish that cannot be picked up ever...

So fish are just ment to litter the ground?

It's not in the patch notes. My guess is they broke picking up fish some how.

Fish also now can jump on land and flop around why wouldn't players beable to pick those up.

Based on talks in thier discord it's purely a bug when it comes to picking up fish caught with a rod or not.

you can remove the fish on the ground in your house (and anything else 'dropped'
within range) with the console command: removedrops

Yes. The intent was that you should not be able to pick up fish from the water without the fishing rod. While they did that they accidentally prevented also picking up certain fish from the ground that you dropped there yourself. The next patch should address some of this. I'm not sure what's the verdict with live fish that derped themselves to dry land. I suppose it would be kinda problem if you got one of those in your base somehow and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it 🤔

I picked one up today that had recently beached itself against a rock and the shore. It was still twitching a bit trying to get back into the water ...

Had a puffer fish landing in my boat...couldn't pick it it up, but it did poison me...

Seems like they dont want fish to be obtained unless you actually use a rod. I say boo to that but also understand why, you can get fish in meadows tier if your lucky and also savy

Im in the meadows, fish jumped out of water, just cant pick it up.

It's a known bug with the latest update. In other threads about this exact problem (please use the forum search, people), it's been pointed out that the devs are aware of it and working on a fix.
