Ok, sometimes enough is enough...
I decided to take on Moder...
at the end I gave up and deleted my world and saves, why ?
well Moder was a decent hand full, but the 6 golems, 20 drakes and 30 wolves was a bit much, I was like running in with full HP and Stam and a frost res, then I tried with my old iron gear, then I simply could not find my corpse in the mess of corpses while being chased by 4 drakes and 2 wolves,
I mean I did all could to prepare, 100 poison arrows , 100 obsidian arrows and full silver gear, plus a silver sword... Moder was no issue, it was all the adds that done it, golems, wolves and drakes... in a area that had never been active before, I had a castle nearby, and didnt have any trouble... started the boss and suddenly every mob decided to join the fight.
I killed 4 golems, 12 wolves and 15 drakes while taking Moder to 4 / 5 th of her HP... I ended up dying 43 times trying to find my corpse and getting the gear back... too may wolves and golems to avoid... the last straw was running to a castle and ... draugr in the ice castle ?
Rage quit and delete the saves, screw this mess...cant recover my ♥♥♥♥.
Restart I guess.

dont think im ever gonna get this faar, but tbh, i think mobs should have friendly fire, no?
in minecraft they do, and even get mad at each other when they do it, quite fun to watch :D

You must have been lucky to make it to the mountains and not learn that preparation is everything in this game.
Kind of shocking really since you need the eggs so you have to explore quite a bit.
Did you use the map thing online to find the boss spawns?
Do you have onions and the proper level mountain food yet?
Why didn't you put defenses up around the boss spawn to stop adds?
like just dig holes and drop golems into and they can't spawn again... trench to prevent wolf attacks
Frankly it sounds you looked up the boss spawn and then consoled the eggs to put in, Drauger and skeletons are common in mountain towers but that is also where the moder ID stones typically are along with onion seeds... so I question your even exploring.
Game is unforgiving for the unprepared.

Recovering after a big loss is, for me at least, one of the things I like about the game.
The challenge to get back into fighting shape can often result in the best 'stories' I can have in this game.
Its not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy those journeys and the sense of accomplishment when you go back and return the beat down.

So either all 30 wolves will get killed by the golems, or all 6 golems killed by the wolves. There shouldn't be 2 golems AND 18 wolves happily chasing you around.
the last straw was running to a castle and ... draugr in the ice castle ?That is most likely a castle with a draugr spawner. Have you really explored and cleaned up the area around before summoning Moder?

My fight lasted probably a day, a night and another day. I had visitors at night, but as I've written before, just maybe two wolves (of the non-star variety) and drakes were more or less regular visitors, but since it was only one at the time, they were no problem.
I really feel sorry for @Flare |UKCS|. That were some pretty unlucky circumstances.

I found all the spawns in the area and dropped a work bench. only had 1 drake during the whole moder fight

I think that is why I wasn't too much bothered with spawns during my fight of Moder. I had a portal some 50 meters away and a workbench. During the whole fight I was just bothered by a few drakes and one or two wolves. No golems.

Honestly is this a thing that happens alot? I have fought all the bosses many times and never have had more than a few mobs spawn if any. All vanilla here fyi, if you have mods could that be causing higher mobs spawns?

Like I said , I had a castle nearby... I wondered near the area a 100 times looking for caves, nothing much,,, triggered Moder and suddenly it was a mob party zone, golems in the area where I never had a single one, hell wolves when I spent ages looking for pelts... drakes was a nothing burger, they were a none issue... but so many golems and wolves, why ? I patrolled the area many times to make sure it was safe to call Moder, suddenly it was the party zone for all mobs...
even the land was being a sod, when moder landed it was up a mountain , pro her breathe missed me, con I used up all my stam to get to melee range... then the adds joined in.
Did you trigger moder during the night? Sounds like it.
If it is a highly congested spawn area, as others said, lay down the benches thick in a radius (going in) that is perhaps even as large as that of an event radius. That should prevent most things from coming around(cept maybe drakes).
Also the method you use to take on moder can determine how much harder it gets too. You could also make a larger earthen wall area around where they spawn being mindful to know the typical distances that moder will fly/land in proximity to you/the fight.
Last time I did moder, I just have multiple earthen pillars I built to duck behind for the fight. I didnt have any wolves or golem but I did have a drake come around but a few arrows had em down in no time. I was arrowing moder down as well so it was fine to just switch targets.
Fastest kill of moder though I've seen(there are vids on this) is a large pack of wolves. Goes down in seconds. Its just prep heavy to breed up a pack is all.

It is a tough fight. I did it yesterday. It took me 3 ingame days to kill her. I had one death, I think it was a nightspawn wolf that actually did me in. I spent quite alot of time clearing all the spawns in the area before summoning her. I still had 2 golems, 6-8 wolves, and many drakes show up interrupting my fight.

Yeah the biggest mobs make the loudest noise, which draws the most trash...
I failed to an unexpected golem on my first attempt too, and took a break from bosses for awhile after that. Eventually I went back, and wound up inadvertently getting boss aggro at the very base of the mountain. Probably slid down by mistake, but Moder never broke off.
At that point, I didn't seem to need to worry about mountain trash adds; I was on the border of black forest. Iirc, after that it was just arrows. I don't think I tried meleeing. I had no silver gear since I didn't know silver existed at the time.
So you might try kiting her to a safer area to fight?

I do wish the bosses were instanced as you need a bit of luck to not have much respawn during a fight. It doesn't get much better either, the amount of crap that you can pull during the Yagluth fight........Bosses is something that could do with a lot of work, instance them and make the actual boss fight difficult, right now it is just : parry / attack, repeat until dead or if you can't be bothered parrying, just shoot with arrows, it's a bit of a joke.

I dug trenches on either side of the area where I fought Moder. It trapped a few wolves and 2 golems in the area. I still had a couple wolves spawn next to me and drakes obviously, but I think the trenches helped.
