Thats wrong, the new swamp thing spawns in existing swamps.

Just found 2 in existing biomes that border somewhat close to undiscovered areas but where cleary in areas id already discovered.

Also got iron scraps?

Yeah, they will spawn in already discovered swamps.

Oh I had no idea there even was a new monster xD

Do they respawn after you kill them?

And can you stop them from spawning with workbenches and torches?

They respawn.

I dont know for sure about spawning, but it should work, since they are a mob like every other mob.

i got one in a fully explored swamp

Got three in a swamp I have basically cleared out. No idea on the trophy drop chance but got one on my first kill.
