Cannot find Moder.
I'm getting fairly frustrated at this point. I've been exploring the mountains, got all geared up, upgraded said gear and am ready to fight the next boss, Moder. Problem is I cannot find the stone that shows me where he spawns. I have now searched 19 tall mountains and all the towers and buildings on those mountains and zero of them have had what I'm looking for. I'm at the point where I'm about to just enter godmode and fly around the map looking because it's incredibly dull slowly sailing and running around for multiple hours on end to find nothing.

If you really are stuck and can't find him, you can also use this map to locate his altar:

Fill in the seed of your world and make bosses visible. I do suggest only doing it after looking for him for some time as exploration is part of the fun. Hope it helps.

Gotta say, every vegvisir for Moder i have ever found was in a ruined castle RIGHT NEXT to Moder's shrine. So stupid and pointless. Also, every frost cave i've explored did not have a vegvisir.

I think moder is a she.
That aside, while you search mark the eggs. they can't be portaled but at least you can drag them to a dump site to pick up later once you find the loc.
I would just do the online map if you are already willing to cheat.

i Randomly found Molder Altar in a VERY high Mountain, so if u are looking for it check the highest mountains, his altar would be near atop of it,
PS you have to check carefully which is high enough xD some might look good, but maybe it not

Do the mountains still have the ruined stone castles in them? They had boss stones in them.Yes they do and they also have those vegvisir in it most of the time.

look for caves my friend , in these are plenty of boss stones , before this update was like you said , something hard to find but now , i cleaned 8 caves , 6 got these boss stones

There are different kind of mountains. Small, medium, massive. U need to find massive mountains. U can see the high and massive peak when u do your sea cruise. At this mountain u need to find lost fortress, where u can find Moder's vegvisier
