Low FPS, stuttering/lag since most recent patch (game is modded)
Continuing this discussion.
I'm using DirectX because I'm also using the VR mod, which doesn't work with Vulkan. I also have about a dozen other mods added as well. But, be that as it may, my setup was working fine pre-patch. Barely any noticeable fps drops anywhere. I could take out a spawner without any slowdowns. Now, post-patch, the game turns into a slideshow when attacking spawners, or walking around my base, or sailing, or mining, etc. I even turned off Steam supersampling (didn't help). I also tried adjusting all in-game graphics settings to their lowest (also doesn't help, and most were already disabled anyway for the on/off options).
Again--and not to beat a dead horse here--all was working fine before this latest patch. Now it's a stuttering mess, and seemingly randomly at that, but also as mentioned it gets worse the longer I'm playing. It's essentially unplayable for me right now (in VR anyway, which is the only way I game anymore), so I might just wait and come back to the game with the next patch and try it again then to see if the issue gets resolved. At this point, that's probably my best option.
Fun game though, I love playing it. The environment is amazing.

Just an update: Steam version update didn't stop the fps drops, nor did changing a bunch of graphics options to the lowest I could set them (and/or "off").
However, VHVR released a new update last week and THAT stopped the major fps drops and lag/stuttering I'd been getting. I was even able to add on to my base (including a bunch more land changes) with no problems. Dunno if it was an issue with the previous version of VHVR getting messed up by the July 1 patch, or if they added some game optimizations that fixed things, but either way, problem seems to be resolved. Apart from the game itself not being all that well optimized to begin with, but like I said, playable for me again. In VR.

i'm not modded and started seeing this same sort of issue yesterday.I have mods and don't have any problems.
That would tell me the VR mod is the problem then. Also, Steam VR just had an update recently, that always seems to mess things up. I don't play VR on this game, but I do use VR for Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 and other racing games. It's been messed up before with Steam VR patches.Gaming 101, disable mods when problems arise. especially after a patch.With the sole exception of the VR mod, I actually did do that.

That would tell me the VR mod is the problem then. Also, Steam VR just had an update recently, that always seems to mess things up. Back up game saves.
Uninstall game.
Delete the entire game folder. <the only way to be sure you have removed any mod changes>
Reinstall game and verify function in a new game with a new character.
Add mods in one at a time to see what mod is causing issues.
This is not to say that the game won't change over time, I think they are experimenting with ways to optimize the graphics. But the only way to be sure your issue is really the game is to do the above.
If you find a mod that is causing an issue then report it to the modder.
If you feel the game is still an issue, and you can't compensate with settings, then submit a bug report in the proper sub forum.

Clickbait title. Should of started off with, "Heavily modded game running poorly since most recent patch.Didn't intend it to be click-baity, sorry. Game was running fine with the mods prior to the patch. Others (in the thread about it that was locked) have noted the same problem in their own games. The problem may just be more apparent in my case because I have more mods installed (and playing in VR), but that doesn't mean there's no problem since the patch. EDIT: I added "modded" to the title if that helps.
