Access the Public Test branch by right clicking Valheim in your Steam library, and then select ‘Properties’. In the new window, select ‘Betas’ and type in the code “yesimadebackups”. The Public Test branch should now be available for you to choose from.

100% this, why would I want to keep my 600 hour world going.. just to start all over again?
I didnt code the game that way, IG did, im on team waiting until they actually add content.. hopefully soon?
Others would tell me to use mods until there is content, but then also tell me its my fault the server is broken every update because the devs dont support mods, which usually leaves me to face palm...

All true, but the developers should also know that and not already publish a roadmap for a year at release, of which nothing was kept.
Oh...wait. 16 million copies sold? Or was it more? I wouldn't lift a finger either.

Start a new world for fun? I've got an 800 hour world which I know I'm going to have to restart anyway because I've naively explored EVERYWHERE but I'll deal with that. Mods are fun, tackling the game in different ways is fun, starting over with friends who've never played it before is frustratingly hilarious.

Running a small business isn't that easy, especially with the explosive growth they had when the game first came out. On top of the expansions to the team they been doing, they're likely dealing with a lot of taxes and red tape. I've helped my Dad with his business and sometimes it can take WEEKS and MONTHS just to get something filed correctly, and that's with everyone being on the ball.True. Can't really blame them.

If anything, them taking as long as they are is a good thing, the game is pretty solid as is and more time spent means less issues for us once then next update comes out.

16million copies sold, that a lot of people noticing and finding bugs that a small dev team might never come across which they decided to resolve before continuing with content, one of the major reasons for pulling the road map.

They didn't really pull the road map. They had things they were working on in the road map. Things like the Cult of the Wolf, and Tar Pits. After their explosive success they apparently did a lot of bug fixing, then the money flow stopped. They sold a lot of games, saturated their buying market. They had a pile of money, 16 gazillion games sold, and now they had to actually finish. But finishing costs money. Money that already had in their pockets. Money that would no longer flow in as there are not many gamers left who haven't already bought it. So they finished what they already had 1/2 finished and we got a few more building pieces and root armor, and now we wait. But finishing the game now will actually lose them money, not gain it.
5 people built 5 biomes, plus the ocean, plus the landscape art for the other 4 biomes, plus all the 1/2 finished stuff lke Cult of the Wolf, in 4 years. It's been 20 months since, and they couldn't even populate one more biome in all that time. Why?
Blah blah blah. Small team. Blah blah blah, lots of bug fixing.
Face it. There is very little more money to be made on this title. I know Mistlands is supposed to drop soon, nearly 2 years after initial release. I'll wager my Mjolnir that we never see the 8th biome finsihed.

It's early access. heist of the century
It was your choice to buy.
You have access to multiple reviews, critics, a silly amount of videos on every aspect of the game, before purchasing.
It's still got multiple updates coming.
You had the steam refund policy.
It's still got hugely positive votes.
There has been no lies, no misdirection.
There was absolutely no guarantee it would sell well, let alone be such a hit.
Thread can now be closed.
