Why?
Why do we have to place workbench / forge upgrades so far away from each other? The "Needs more space" thing is really annoying and just doesn't make sense...
Anyone know a mod that fixes this?

a boat with a rudder you control; ...steers from the rear .....and handles differently with or without wind , a smaller boat has a tighter radius ....(shorter wheelbase) if you want a front wheel drive you can go backwards
the draw distance is terrible yes - you can see alot of landscape in the distances but the close up stuff like rocks in the water draw in far too late to react to and it is very annoying
i dont know if the draw distance can be modded or has a mod

It's fairly easy to steer boats after you get the hang of them. Just make sure that you keep adjusting the yellow steering bar accordingly to level out or to turn and then level out.
I've never piloted a sail boat before but I assume the sailing system seems fairly accurate for what the boat responds to according to wind direction and whatnot
Modern boats, yes they essentially steer either at the front or they can maneuver towards their midsection. But a sailboat, not sure, I figure they can be steered at the bow or the stern. So there's somewhat of a learning curve, and it's like the controls are inverted. It still is easy after some practice. In no time you'll be sailing the longboat full speed and dodging rocks easy peasy
I turned vegetation to low because several videos on youtube with valheimers showed theirs on low, and you could see mushrooms and stones more easily, as well as fallen wood, which I almost always pick up to save time, especially in the beginning. A lot of people don't understand why I like to pick up rocks and branches, just watch speedrunning videos. Then the beginning of the game is much more tolerable instead of a lot of grinding
Draw distance can be improved upon, but usually I can see what I need to, unless there's too much fog, in which case I'll focus on what's closer to me in case of mobs

She's a tough road finding the perfect game boy, keep looking. not all can make it to Valhalla, and I like it the way it is.

You can adjust the draw distance and terrain graphics on the settings and at very high setting you can see a very good distance, yes the fish floating around is a thing but will most likely be fixed but steering of the boats? I think steering a boat is always at the stern.
Steering of the boats is reversed in this game, its more like driving a car in the snow with snow tyres at the front and summer at the rear, thats not how boats sail.
Render distance up at max and its just not far enough, too much pop in of things even close to you

It's kind of rare to get such general agreement in a spittle spewing rant post. Trick Trick showed us we really do have some common interests. I'll be forever grateful.....

taking his 50 friends with him, this mad lad has a mere 27 friends on his list. rest be imaginary friends apparently
He used to have 77 friends, couldn't stand to be associated with any Valheim lovers... some of them were rl family.

Deleted game with 50 friends
He is announcing he removed the game and no longer wishes to have 50 friends, I mean, that's how it reads to me, but who knows.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it.... does it really happen? sounds like it wants to.. to... to.... to.... to..... (thats an echo of a tree falling in the plains biome)

Build tiny 1x1 floors or use the 1x2 beams to make a level line to attach the 1x1s to.
I have been able to squeeze the bellows just directly over the forge for example and all upgrades but the anvil smashed up against it and under it. Just have to be extremely patient and find the right pixel to aim at.
Once I get a comfortable position I remove the beams and floors and the upgrades stay there because they are usually touching a wall at that point which offers them support.

This is the solution I use, and having shelving makes for a great aesthetic. If you're not modding, placing some of the items below the floor or up on shelving is a solution. Their effective range is a sphere.

Valheim Plus mod has a feature that allows one to place a player made structure halfway up a wall, or submerged through a floor. It also makes it possible to place workbench & forge upgrades right up tight to the bench. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2796264334

I guess you didn't read my post properly.. I was talking about the limitations of building the upgrades close together. For example, you can't place an anvil right next to a forge cooler for some reason. You have to space them out at least 1x1 squares distance. It literally makes more realistic sense for them all to be closer together rather than so far away.

I guess you havent seen a forge before.. for example the bellows needs to be close to the forge or the air wont get hotter!.. workbench well you will need space to work and yet have your tools nearby.. personally a few limitations in life/gameplay make it more interesting..
