Itching for that update
Saw the post from yesterday with the mods saying "Soon". Really curious what they've got cooking for us.

Totally agree. I think we should always keep in mind that these updates are free, it's not paid for dlc or micro transactions(I wish they advertised more things like shirts and maybe even figures, that way they get revenue from sales while gamers get something fun to show[fanboy I know lol]). We are very blessed to have this team. Look at the mechanics of the tar pits, how you have to not only drain them, but that the fluids flow. That blew my mind, cause it shows they're actually working with fluid dynamics, which raises the question, how cool would it be to have functional water mills and piped water to build fountains and baths? They've been awfully quiet lately. Then again, it's been a proper mess with the Omicron virus. Hope all is well, and I'm also looking forward to the next update.
The updates are "free" in the sense that the developers are continuing to bring this game out of Early Access and into a Full Release. Due to a small development team and a game that popped off with streamers during Covid times where a lot of people are at times more online then usual - there is obviously a reason as to why there is a high demand which the developers can't hope to satisfy.
At least the Valheim team did hire on some more help despite the difficulties with a Global Pandemic.

You should probably stay away from early access games in the future. You're not capable of understanding what they are.

I don't really see how you can believe that. If you don't like the pace of the game's development, that's fine. I understand your frustration completely. But if you've spent money on the game already (a paltry $20 or even lower on sale) and gotten over 70 hours of enjoyment out of it, I think it's already been proven more than worth the entry fee. The game has received many updates to things that you might not personally care about, but these are updates that took time and effort nonetheless. The game will reach a finished state at some point. None of us have ever known when that time will come. But I would rather wait multiple years for a great game than sit and watch something with so much potential be squandered by a rushed development cycle. With that said, have a great night You just proved my points in your walls of text and you don't even realize it.

Never ceases to amaze me how impatient people are with this. The game has barely been available for a year, has already had multiple updates AND its like $20. There are tons of games on Steam that have been in pre-release for over 5 years and a lot of them cost a lot more. If you don't enjoy the game, just move on.

Water, smoke, tar, integrity based construction, action combat system, balanced technology trees, Odin. Not to mention our great friend, the wind and the weather.
Among everything else.
They’re a busy team.

This was an early access game. That means we pay for the game to support the devs and the devs continue to work on it in exchange.. It's a good faith system and the devs aren't keeping up their end of the deal.
The devs got their money from us and now they have no incentive to finish it.

Your an idiot. The devs are still working on the game even though they arent obligated to finish it, you gave them money you got a game to play in whatever state it was in.Free? BS.. Totally agree. Thats it the end no contract was signed between any of us and the devs. So I guess we are on the honor system huh? They could stop working on it entirely and nobody could do anything about it. You are entitled to nothing past what you received when you spent money on the game.
Oh no its not happening fast enough for you boo hoo.
The devs could have just said called it a complete game at 5 biomes and nobody could really argue. But no the games been kept in early access state because the devs want to add more to it.
I cant think of any other early access title that came out and felt pretty much complete with very few issues. The devs know their stuff and have shown they prefer releasing things properly instead of giving people a buggy hell and working out the kinks later.
There is a ton of content as it is and yeah it might take a few years to get all the biomes out but if a person is capable of patience and either enjoying whats already there to be played or shelving it till a new update thats all you can really do.
Some of the best games on steam spent years in early access first.
Your kidding yourself if you genuinely believe that when you pay money for an early access title theres any kind of deal that the devs finish it or make updates at a pace you personally find acceptable.
Updates will come when updates come.

When you paid for this game, you paid for the content that existed at the time of purchase. Yes, it's early access and future update are to be expected, but in this business they're never guaranteed. The devs could just leave it as is and abandon it if they wanted to. Give it time and see what happens.
If you don't like it then you only have yourself to blame for buying an unfinished game. Welcome to the early access "genre". Things take time. They don't happen overnight.

I see a lot of whining about the devs doing nothing, which is complete nonsense. In my opinion, they tweak the game constantly since I have noticed a lot of changes that they haven't broadcast.
For example:
My character doesn't seem to die now as easily jumping from a height when i forget to eat or when I am hit by a tree.
The Stone Golem trophy which is meant to be a shiny reflective surface, now reflects its surroundings. Before it always depicted a sunny day no matter where it was placed but now
if you place it inside wood walls, it turns a brown colour. If you have a Christmas tree nearby, the tree is reflected in the trophy.
A lot of changes have been made to the fish - they now have different species.
They've made the biomes more mixed up, so now you can have small patches of black forest or mountain in the meadows. That makes it so much more interesting as you can suddenly be pounced on by a troll or attacked by a wolf when you assume it should be safe.
They've changed some of the sounds. Chests used to make a loud noise which sounded more like a slamming door and they have quietened it down.
Many of the changes seem simple but I am betting they're not easy to do.
This game has a long, long way to go with a very bright future. Given how phenomenal the game is at this stage, the team should be congratulated for the incredible job they have done so far.
