Damage Confusion
So I'm a little confused about the stats in this game. I currently have a Quality 4 (Maxed out) Silver Sword. It says it does 93 (46-74) Slash and 45 (22-36) Spirit damage. Assuming the (46-74) and (22-36) is extra damage from my level in the weapon skills or maybe extra damage done from crit that still doesn't explain... How is my Silver Sword that does 93 damage hitting Greylings for 66 damage? My minimum is 93 how is it going below the minimum possible damage???
AND if the numbers in the ( ) is extra damage from my level in the weapon skill It shouldn't be possible to do less than 139 damage a hit with Slash alone.
Originally I thought maybe it had to do with an enemy being resistant to a damage type but the weakest enemy in the game? Wolves who have no armor? I can't believe something made of flesh with no armor is resistant to having it's stomach slashed open..

Also Spirit doesn't do anything except to undead, so the Silver Sword will only do its slash damage (based on your sword skill) to enemies that aren't undead.

It is not a dumb system at all and shows you exactly what you need to know; your current damage based on your skill and your potential damage.
Don't be mislead by the 'potential max' as you will find you weapons will serve you well when giving damage far below the max.
And given that many players start new characters when they start new seeds I would guess not many people reach the max potential on all if even a few weapon classes.

and skills go down on death, so grinding it to max is pretty hardcore.

Just based off of other games I have played, presumably most all enemies have a set amount of defense, which will divide incoming damage by a percentage.
So that 93 damage would only occur on an enemy with 0 defense. No idea if that is actually the case, but that would be my assumption.

the numbers in parentheses are what you actually do based off your current weapon skill level. The number outside of parentheses is what you would do if you had max level skill.
Its a dumb system. Im not defending it. Im just explaining it.

Ahh so to do 93 I need to max the skill, and right now I'm only doing like half... Geez that's a lot of grinding. It's taking forever to level skills now past 50
