Swamp Wraiths. They only spawn at night, which is pretty dangerous at iron tier.

Even so, it can be difficult to harvest more than 2 chains per night. Chain farming is incredibly slow, so build portals near wraith spawns and check them all every night.

chains in crypts are similar to before I think, but there are a lot more wraiths around at night and they all drop chains every time. Just cruise the swamp for a couple of nights.

i hate wraiths, but 1v1 they arent bad. problem is they always show up when youre fighting others.

I believe this is some really old information as i've never had them spawn in the same area. I checked it a dozen times, put down markers, never spawned in the same area again, yeah once but that was most likely just a coincidence. The only ones i noticed were trolls, they spawn close to troll caves in an x radius around them. Kill one, x days later a new one spawns in that radius.

It's purely RNG. In my most recent playthrough, I ended up with around 30 chains after clearing maybe 8-10 crypts, with another 10 from wraiths (I seem to have made my base right next to a wraith spawn point!).

In previous runs, I've definitely had the same experience as you, where I never seem to have enough chains.

Go looking for some wraiths.
