Black metal nails for various things

I'm expecting that black metal will just cover the same things as earlier metals have. However it is quite unique from other metals in that it is a really common mob drop.

Much like troll leather and bone piles it is a material that finds you rather than the other way around. Combine that with the fact that fulings can potentially spawn anywhere after a certain surpassing a certain milestone in progression, and the fact that the current endgame isn't actually the endgame. It's going to be impossible to NOT have tons of it.

One thing that I think is very overdue is an improved cart, with more health and reduced speed penalties from heavy loads.

No idea really, but, if I were to hazard a few guesses:

1. Black Metal Armour components
2. Black Metal Arrows would be an obvious pick
3. Black Metal Spear (missing weapon for BM tier)
4. Black Metal Great Hammer (missing BM tier)
5. Crossbow from shown images (looks like Black Metal to me)
6. New forge upgrades probably
7. Maybe a new building component
8. Black Metal Great Axe possibly?
9. A new BM pick axe? for harvesting Marble?

Just to name a couple off the top of my head. I also had an idea for using Black Metal & other materials to make an armour to be equipped to Lox, to make them even more tanky, or even a back mounted Howdah, so you can shoot off the back of it.

I truly wish the devs would revamp Plains armor so that it used Black Metal instead of sending totally overpowered people back into the Swamps for more iron. That might require goblin mines.

*Edit - I too was baffled by the decision for a second set of iron harvesting for padded. Maybe it'll be like Stranger things, maybe they will tie it all together in the end. Or maybe they won't. Time will tell.

Though, i think it's fine as it is for the armor to use iron+linen, but yeah bmetal needs more uses.
I would either prefer it to stop dropping from mobs and be a resource you find only in chests.
It's annoying that everytime you mess with fulings they poop bmetal all over the place.

+1 to the suggestion to use BM for armor. Iron at this stage absolutely doesn't make sense since you will acquire so much BM that you pretty much can make all BM weapons and upgrade them to max level and you will STILL be rolling in stacks and stacks of BM.

honestly this is one decision that i really didn't understand. +1 to padded using BM

Make that +2. I think black metal reinforced beams would also go a long toward helping me rid myself of some of my black metal. I have at least 3 black metal chests full of it in my main world.
