Why the update title?

Why did they give this tiny update a title and launch trailers like it's a big free DLC just for it to be small pile of patches?

The game itself takes up very little storage space due to its style and lack of 4k Textures. It's likely also very well optimized unlike something like Call of Duty.

While there is patches, there's some new content. Personally I was expecting more but, TBH, the game was already released in a really good state and priced damn well. Anyone expecting major changes is a 'little' entitled.

I wouldn't say "entitled". Though perhaps a bit naive. ;)

i bought it assuming it would be finished....

The only people who are entitled are the people who put things on early access, outline a plan to finish the game - then completely abandon that plan when the game sells well.

This right here. Devs had a solid roadmap and that was the reason it was so highly supported. Then after the success that roadmap completely fell through and forgotten.

Modders are adding more content in a fraction of the time. Maybe they should have hired the 2 new members from the modders.

It's not people being entitled leading to complains.

Objectively, they sold the game with a road map initially including 5 updates iirc and as many stretch goals for 2021. Typically, that means there will be 5 updates and the stretch goals will depend if the game sells well enough to cover added investment cost.

Instead we were told along the way there would be only 2 updates and now the first one comes and is, in my opinion, not good enough to warrant returning to the game. All while the game had tremendous commercial success.

I agree the game came out well worth its cost in terms of hours of enjoyment provided. I still maintain the update is lackluster.

Wha-
What the ♥♥♥♥?
This update is literally exactly what was promised in the roadmap, to the T. What are you talking about? Are you sure YOU didn't forget the roadmap?

This shouldn't even be considered an "update" more of a hotfix and patch. Stop fanboying and wake up. It took them 8 months to do and add virtually nothing.

you realise with millions of sales comes thousands of bugs that need to be fixed and of course dealing with players posting bugs in wrong sections and wording them like "game broken doesn't work" not to mention just because some of us were lucky and our games ran well doesn't mean everyone's did, should the devs have left those peoples games broken? just so you guys can get an update faster? thats rather selfish thinking if you ask me.
...and let me guess they should have used that money they made to hired 100 new staff members right? it's not like the world has been going through anything, interviews and hiring is as easy as ever right? and it takes no time at all to catch new coders and desginers up on the project right????

Yes modders have but they only work on small areas of the game, they also don't have to fix thousands of bugs across all the code and none of the mods i have seen are total conversions not to mention the valheim devs have done almost all the heavy lifting in making their game compatible with different OS / drivers / hardware etc. Modders are important to the gaming community but to compare their work list with that of the dev of "this game" is more than unfair.

Are you listening to yourself? Everything you just stated is based on speculation; you have no direct knowledge of why it took them 8 months to release a puny patch when they committed to several major updates in a years time. That is what we PAID FOR.

Time for you to wake up and smell the coffee. I give them credit for a well polished EA release, but beyond that VH is a total letdown to those of us who expected additional play ability within a reasonable timeframe.

They already made the money, they don't care the player base right now.
