Doesn't the chest automatically break, if you remove whatever it's standing on...?

^ This is the simplest option for what you want. The personal chest has 10,000 hp so it'll take a while and a lot of arrows, but it'll work (I used to use a personal chest as a target for archery practice before an update made that option no longer viable). As long as you don't go so fast that you accidentally fire an arrow after the chest has already been destroyed, you won't have to worry about damaging anything else in your tavern.

Also, remember to stick with plain wood arrows. You don't want to unnecessarily waste resources over this.

AFAIK only the owner can hammer-delete a personal chest, you just have to destroy it, what's the big deal?

Bc it's in a tavern that is very special to me and if I try to destroy it, I will destroy everything around it.

Hit it few times then repair all damaged structures around it, repeat until chest broken

WHY would the whole tavern be in danger? you arent using explosives... all you have to do is hit it (chest) with an axe or pick, until it breaks ...and if a floor piece or wall takes some damage just fix/replace it.

I want to delete the chest bc it's not usable.

The chest was a personal chest to the character I accidentally deleted.

1) Is this on a local single-player map (or at least a map that you launch through the game client, not the Dedicated Server tool)?

2) Are there any other Personal Chests nearby that need to be kept?

make a new character and visit the last save for that seed?

if you didn't make a ward you can delete anything you like;
if you made a ward the new character would have to destroy that first
oh wait you don't want to destroy the chest? any character can visit any seed
