Finite / Non-Renewable items in Valheim

Some items are potentially infinite, others are only generated upon world generation, lets cover what is and isn't renewable. this information is current as of 5/14/23, its possible that future updates might fix this though its unlikely since many of these things are plentiful despite being non renewable. The wiki says almost nothing on the renewability of some resources so I thought it would be good to gather some info for posterities sake.

FINITE MATERIALS:
Queen Bees: These only drop from beehives which are generated during world generation in abandoned buildings, if for some reason you lost all the original bee's nests it would be impossible to build a beehive or obtain honey.

Copper (ore, scrap, and bars): Copper ore is generated in black forest biomes upon world generation, these deposits do not regenerate. Copper Scrap drops from certain structures in the mistlands, these structures do not regenerate. Copper bars can be obtained from smelting copper ore, or by smelting copper scrap, both of which are finite though plentiful.

Bronze: Because copper is finite technically the amount of bronze that can exist is less than the amount of possible copper bars in a world.

Withered Bones?: Found in chests and muddy scrap piles both of which are finite.

FINITE BUILDINGS:
Beehives: because queen bees are finite the number of possible beehives you can make is equal to or less than the number of queen bees in the world.

Forges: Because copper is finite, and forges require copper bars, there is a theoretical limit to how many forges can be crafted in a single Valheim world.

RENEWABLE MATERIALS:
Wood: Wood can be obtained from trees which can be replanted, or from greydwarfs who drop it on death. Both methods allow for potentially infinite wood.

Stone: Stone can be obtained from loose stones on the ground, stone deposits, from digging the ground, or from greydwarf drops. Because Greydwarfs are potentially infinite so is stone.

Tin: Tin ores respawn on shore lines from time to time, as far as I can tell there is no limit to how many times if may regenerate so tin is potentially infinite. (Edit: there has been disagreement if tin does respawn, I will test it again to be sure.)

Iron (scrap iron, and iron bars): Iron is found in chests, smelted from muddy scrap, and iron scrap can be dropped from oozers (33% chance). The oozer drop makes iron potentially infinite.

Black metal: Dropped by fuelings and other fueling variants. These enemies are potentially infinite so also is the metal.

Leather scraps: Can be obtained from boars which can be bred by players and which spawn in the wild. Both options mean this is a potentially infinite material.

Surtling cores:

Eggs:

Resin:

Swamp Key:

Hard Antler:

Torn Spirit:

Ancient Seed:

Fueling Totem:

Fishing bait:

All trophies:

All non-boss Creature drops:

All Seeds:

If for some reason you ran out of finite items the only real solution right now would be to create another world, gather the necessary resources, and then return to your exhausted world with the key items. Though this is a scenario that is extremely unlikely for any normal group of valheim players.

P.S.
This list is no where near complete, please add to it and correct it as necessary.
P.P.S.
If someone wanted a way to fix the scarcity issue the simplest solution would be to make some items purchasable from Haldor at certain times or after certain events are completed. Another way would be to add some finite items to certain drop tables as uncommon drops.

Iron is also a loot drop from oozes, the big brown ones. However, you'd have a hard time farming enough of them to meet all your needs.

Tree seeds for the less common trees like pine, birch and oak, might diminish over time if the drops do not keep up with the number you chop down.

Unless you have mods, ancient bark is not renewable. Neither is guck.

Surtling cores: Farmable from Surtling spawners in the Swamp.
Eggs: Initially purchased from Haldor, then generated by chickens.

Resin/Wood/Stone: Farmable from Greydwarf Nest (via Greydwarves).
Ancient Seed: Farmable from Greydwarf Nest (via Brutes).
Swamp Key: Boss Drop. Only has one use, having more than one is pointless.
Hard Antler: Boss Drop. Only has one use, although having more than one is worthwhile.
Fuling Totem: Farmable from Fuling Berserkers; effectively infinite.
Torn Spirit: Boss Drop.

Fishing bait: Technically only as finite as gold, but annoying to acquire because it only comes from one place (Haldor). Other baits are crafted... from purchased bait plus something else. Fishing is broken, because you are forced to return to Haldor to acquire the ability to continue fishing.

All trophies: Mob drop, thus infinite.
All non-boss Creature drops: Mob drop, thus infinite.

Tree Seeds: Other than beech (and theoretically oak), the drop rate is not high enough to replenish stock via replanting; thus finite.
Plant Seeds: Absolutely infinite, produced 3 at a time via planting 1 "fruit" (ie, end product).

Surtling cores are renewable because they drop from surtlings which infinitely regenerate around fire spouts in the swamp.

Swamp key is non renewable since withered bones are non renewable - though very plentiful.

I believe hard antler is renewable unless you can't summon a boss from the same location more than once. Haven't tried it.

Resin and and ancient seeds are renewable as far as I can tell.

You can absolutely summon Eikthyr more than once. You can even summon Eikthyr more than once at the same time.

Swamp key drops from The Elder, who is summoned via Ancient Seeds. You can make an arbitrarily large number of them, but possessing more than one per character grants no additional benefit.

Bonemass is summoned via withered bones (which are finite)... but the Wishbone (the non-trophy drop from that boss) is another object which grants no additional benefit from possessing more than one per character.

Extremely unlikely indeed. I'd go one more and say so unlikely it's impossible. There is no one , nor a group of players that would even take on the challenge of mining or removing every finite resource

Swamp key is from the Elder not Bonemass, so the wishbone is finite.

Also, has it been definitely proven that tin respawns?

Black Cores and Silver Ore are both probably finite. Finding a really good biome can be a pain in the ass.

They may force a player to us devcommand/ mods even though they don't want to.

Wood can be picked up as sticks on the ground same as loose stones. Fallen logs and rotting stumps also produce wood and may regenerate. (I recall clearing these in places I was going to build and having to clear more again later if I didn't get work benches down).

Copper ore and iron ore are now potentially infinite though tedious to acquire. Copper ore comes as a potential bonus material from catching trollfish and iron ore from Giant herring.

Chitin and obsidian falls into the non-renewable to tedious renewable. The number of leviathans is pre-generated when the world is created as once they submerge they do not resurface BUT Chitin comes as a bonus resource from catching Coral Cod. Obsidian is extremely plentiful on a map but is non-renewable except that it can come as a bonus resource from catching Tetra. This also applies to silver and the Northern Salmon.

What mods are you running? I have an area I've marked "tin deposits" on my map that constantly generates new tin deposits. That world is easily 100+ hours old, and I've been pulling tin out of the same area since I built my little hut just to the south... before I even found the Elder.

Swamp key drops from The Elder,

Doh yes I meant wishbone but saw swamp key in the list and my brain just went with it.
