Do Updates Break Worlds?
I just got the game and was wondering when the devs update the game with new content, does it break the previous world that i was building on? I had this issue with other games like 7 Days To Die when a new update (or alpha in that game's case) would not let you use the old world.

I really like that your character and world are separate just like how Terraria is set up (makes it a lot easier to farm for materials). I see your point and if it came to that then yeah, that would soften the blow quite a bit. The fact that you can move your character means you can easily jump start your progress on a new world by bringing mats/gear over from your existing world. So you never really have to "start over" all the way.

Yeah, they try their hardest to keep old worlds compatible. Occasionally they can break them, especially heavily explored worlds. The last major update , Hearth & Home did not break worlds, but the new tar pits would not spawn in plains areas you had already explored.
The Mistland stuff will probably be the same, only change areas the players has not already explored.
To be honest though I just restart the game personally to fully enjoy the new stuff, but thats me.

it won't break worlds. The worst case would be not being able to explore new content on your world

i can live with that and it sounds very similar to Terraria in that way when that game would get an update minus the terraforming it won't break worlds. The worst case would be not being able to explore new content on your world

On massive updates like the new biomes/caves early this year, Im just going to take my character to a new world.
Havn't done this yet, but I am *assuming* the stats/equipment will stay in inventory?

Yeah you keep everything that is in your inventory when you go to a new world (it's set up just like Terraria that way) On massive updates like the new biomes/caves early this year, Im just going to take my character to a new world.

The last update that changed the database, Hearth & Home, also provided an up-conversion that worked flawlessly.
Up-converting the database was not a new monster or building-piece, it was just some heavy lifting that had to get done so that people would have a good experience and the game will have a good foundation for more of the stuff we like.

as far as i know new updates wont break anything
the only issue with new content is that it would not spawn in allready explored areas
