F2 key of death!
Apart from dying and spending most of your life recovering stuff, is there a way of disabling the F2, double stick press, as i seem to hit them both at the same time when in battle just to die Yet again.
Cheers

The beauty of never using a keyboard but remapping all the needed keys to a razer orbweaver. Best thing I ever did. Too many issues with keyboard mashing when being chased by Mr Troll.

My issue is definitely with pushing both sticks, and it happened again to me today, but, thanks to this thread, I was able to clear it.
I think the root of the problem for me is that the run button in No Man's Sky is the crouch button in Valheim, which can definitly cause some panic situations where I just mash the sticks. If I mash both sticks at the same time I end up crouched with text filling the screen, probably about to get squished. :-)

Hi cheers guys for all the replies. after err dunno 4 days i've found the old dead me where me stuff was, prowling around the mountains for 25 years, so i'm more chilled now! lol.
With some games, or one anyway, i made a new controler layout for it, tho when you make a layout, there isn't one for pressing both keys.
must learn Not to die! dying is not good!
might be a way later i suppose, will just have to bear with it.
yes, me on PC controller and mouse for bits.
cheers guys for your input :-)

Get a bigger keyboard. That's what I did when I had problems in games.
Umm... keyboard's don't have 'sticks'. Fairly certain he's referring to playing with a controller?
I know if you're playing with an XB1 controller on PC and press down on the right stick (R3 technically), the xbox chat keyboard comes up, and that's messed with me really bad several times... and it's not possible to rebind or disable it, even though it's not something I would ever use...

Really? I play with an XB1 controller and that's never happened to me. It just stows/retrieves my weapons, nothing else.

It might be the left stick. It's part of that same overlay that pops up when you hit the Xbox button in the middle of the controller. I haven't used my controller in a bit, issue kept interrupting things too much.

Thanks for responding, I play with keyboard and mouse so have not experienced what you are describing.
I suggest going to https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/ and add a new bug, as you are not the first person to report it on the forums. It may be a conflict between steam and Valheim when using a controller, or if you are playing on Xbox it could be an error in the way that has been integrated. Also check your steam controller support settings.

Also, work with portals, when going to a new island, put down a portal, significantly drops the time on corpse runs.
This has absolutely saved my bacon on a few occasions. I always kick myself when I leave without resetting my emergency portal with a new name. I usually leave the old connections laying around.

HI, the screen pops up what seems at random in the Heat of battle and it disarms you, not handy. F2 i found was the key to press that turns it on and off after it pops up. but also by the game pad if you press simultaneously both sticks down, the bit where you want to crouch on the right, and the one on the left at the same time.
Mean while, while you're navigating the F2 screen (i've no idea what it's uses for) and reloading your deadly weapons, some evil monster has in the meantime had you for tea.(Again!)
In some games you can go steam and create a new controller map (thing!), but i think you can't do that with Valheim, and and even if you can, if you can disable or rather not enable the double stick press.
cheers for the replies :-)
naturally a good rule would be 'do not press both down at the same time!' but not easy where you're being eaten.

For Faceplant8 Yes tapping the F2 key OR pressing down both sticks will remove it, however you've then got to arm yourself again. can be done tho, assuming you've not been had for tea.

I have a clue what the poster is on about. It has happened to me:
Start Valheim. Press F2. A chat window opens in the upper left portion of the screen.
That is what chrsyt is complaining about. I do not know whether Valheim is the culprit or Steam. I do not know how to re-map that key via Valheim or Steam. I do know that I eventually stopped fat-fingering the keyboard during combat.

This sounds like something that has killed me on a few occasions and annoyed me on several others. It seems like it is caused by double pressing the controller sticks somehow, and it tends to happen when I'm startled by something that is likely trying to kill me, so it's the worst possible time and it blocks enough of the view to make survival difficult. It might also disable some controls, but I don't remember for sure.
If I do survive, I don't know how I brought it up, so I don't know how to turn it off, so I have to exit the game and reload to get it to go away. I would love to be able to disable it, but if I can just hit F2, that's better than the alternative.

This question was asked not that long ago, and no one had a clue what the poster was on about then either.
Can the OP expand the question to define what "F2" means pleae.

What exactly does F2 do for you?, cause for me it just brings up that little none interactive popup screen which shows fps, instances, world ID and whatnut. It does nothing special in the game itself, i can just move, attack, dodge, jump and everything like normal.
Also, work with portals, when going to a new island, put down a portal, significantly drops the time on corpse runs. However how far are you in the game, what armor do you have, do you use a parry shield, what food are you using, that's important information.
