Does anyone know what happened at Iron Gate after the initial success?

Around 5 million copies of Valheim were sold in the first month since EA release. At $20 a copy, that's $100M, and then, infamously, development became very slow and the entire initial roadmap was scrapped. I don't know how much of the $100M actually landed in the pockets of Iron Gate, but even if they only ended up with half, it's still a ludicrous amount of money.

I suspect this sudden acquisition of enormous wealth was the reason for the slow development of the game, as I can see its distribution going one of two ways:
1. Everyone on the development team got enough money to never work another day of their life, and were subsequently unmotivated to work another day in their life.
or
2. Only some people on the team got that money and everyone else was very upset that they were not being properly compensated, thus causing morale to plummet and making them not want to work for that company another day in their life.

However, this is all just conjecture on my part. So I'm wondering if anyone knows the actual inside story.

They hired a team for crossplay, which wasn't cheap. They released a new biome, and now they have different teams for different projects FOR valheim. You can review their most recent developer blog on steam released today. They hired Physics groups and they even have new concept art for Ashlands and i'm super excited about that. Just saying, there is a lot more to go on than just the money. I.E. if they made 1 billion that would be even better. A lot of that money didn't go directly into the pockets of the devs and not even close to half did. I'm sure they all got a pretty nice sum but no where near 2million each. There's soooo many different fractions of companies within iron gate. EA got their cut, marketing, gotta pay steam, gotta pay the devs, gotta pay the artists, gotta pay literally everyone. Everyone wants a penny nowadays. I love Valheim and would work on it for free.

Edit: Lets not forget they gotta pay the PR team, The Legal teams, and all that kinda stuff too. sooo much money gets dispersed everywhere. Lets hope they can make even more money to continue to have a life and work on the game even more.

Here's there new blog.

The people who work there know the actual story, is there any reason for them to tell you? Name another company that shares meeting minuets with customers.
