FYI, you can actually use the item stands (both mounted and flat) to place most food. :)

With regards to adding elements to building, I'm not a dev, so I don't know, but it's likely that what we already have will be it with the exceptions for new biome content that's unlocked.

There are mods that add some more building content to the game that you can use. Clutter, Better Creative, Odins Architect, etc. A search on Nexus or Thunder will get you bunches.
I personally love Item Stand All Items. It does what it says - EVERYTHING can be put on a stand.

Of course, use mods at your own risk, they're not supported by the game devs.

I'd love more native options for building too. I am a Valheim builder. :)
