Build height is still too low
I just tried making a damn pyramid out of the new black granite material and it just collapses at 8 levels up. That's absurd, it's a damn PYRAMID. There's no more structurally sound way to stack stone. I should be able to go wayyyyyyyy higher with this stuff. This is is ridiculous, I'm just watching the stone ON TOP crumble first, not the stuff that's sitting under all the rest. Seriously, the build height needs to be like 3 times what it is. The really dumb thing is that I have other buildings taller than this, as if those are sturdier than a solid pyramid.

I'm replaying my way through the game so I haven't used any of the new mistlands stuff yet so I can't comment on those, but there are several techniques for building high up.
Here are a few:
Use pillars of elevated ground using the hoe. This can greatly increase your build height if you use these pillars as support column. If you don't like how they look, just hide them behind other materials.
Place iron items inside of stone items. Iron item like iron gate or wood iron beams/poles. By placing these iron inside of your stone structures it actually greatly increases the maximum height that you can build at. I recommend Using the iron gates as I find they tend to be the most efficient especially if you place one touching multiple objects.
Also you probably already know this one, but I'll say it anyway. Placing wood objects on to stone makes the wood act as the same as if it were built on the ground as far as supporting the structure goes.
Once I've had a chance to mess around with the new content I might be able to say more on this, but I don't know how the new build-ables interact yet.

Vikings did not build much other than houses and boats. No stone skyscrapers in viking land
I am not aware of any viking engineers like the ones Europe had to build cathedrals a little later in history .This was always marketed as a viking adventure game not a building game
wtf are you doing?

You can use also devcommand, spawn detructibie_rock, probably this one command, it spawn small rock and work as ground fundament, and u get another 50m height without any mod, i use this for my middle main tower.
And i agree, they could think about raise limit to 100m than 50m, 100 is reasonable hight.

Also, they don't fight magical creatures and other unrealistic threats, it's a game and each of us can build whatever we want if we feel like it, because the game allows us to do so. Vikings did not build much other than houses and boats. No stone skyscrapers in viking land

go play around in god mode while flying if you want to see the impact of many things at once - nothing like a 100 stack of Lox (tamed) spawned on top of a 100 stack of DvergrMage spawned in. Your graphics card will get heck of a workout while those attack each other. Fireworks ensue.
The inanimate objects have far less impact, but you can still see why there must be constraints for general use.

Your potato =/= My potato. And voxel games are limited by the CPU not the GPU.
Constraints exist for the Lowest Common Denominator aka: The system requirements section on the store page, the lowest acceptable performance machine.
We've already discussed these things in other threads that the building load system is bunk with lots of real world examples of buildings made of just normal wood that far exceed in-game limits.
Many of the largest timber only buildings are at least 80ft high and some have been built much higher.
Most of the largest ancient functional stone buildings are at least 200ft tall - all of them still exist today. The modern masonry buildings are much taller.
The in-game limitations are nothing but an annoyance caused by non-engineers artificially limiting the creativity of the community. We even have iron support available in-game that is visually incorrect and doesn't provide any kind of benefit at all structurally, but the functionality for it exists in the game so we can technically make massive span bridges and extremely tall buildings. They just don't want us to.

use ironwood inside stones and build up to the skies. also: trees are ground. use trees as foundation and you can build higher than render distance. you can get a snow covered treehut even when starting at sea level. google for guides and go make tower of babylon.

I've never heard so many bupkis explanations in a ten second span in my life. They have a height limit because unity engine is not the best engine in the world. It can only render so many changes to base world then it breaks hence low draw distance ect. Unity is not a total dog but its limited.

Used to use the Valheim+ mod to increase build height by about x2. Works good. Set it however you like. Quit using it due to mod down time when updates came out. Looking forward to mods when game if finished in 2028.

from what i remember stone acts as a foundation as long as its connected to the ground in some way through other stones right?
only other cheese way i could think of getting around this would be to raise the ground inside the build and use iron support beams but theres a limit to those aswell
