Wind shifts

I'm noticing that *verrrry often* - like, conspicuously often - when I'm sailing for a prolonged stretch, almost every time the wind shifts it shifts to over the bow or close to it. Which means that in order to keep wind in the sail, you have to turn to an entirely new heading or go through the ringamarole of tacking into the wind.

I don't mind having the wind shift into my face and having to change course now and then, but it happens so often and so reliably it seems like it's set up to do it on purpose to disrupt your sailing.

...It's not just me, right?

This zombie bull will not die. The wind shifts are RNG. Everyone who thinks otherwise please look-up "confirmation bias."

I've had plenty of favorable winds, far more than unfavorable. Does the game somehow know it's me? Maybe it's paying me off. Yes, that must be it.

One thing to remember is that if the wind shifts and it does not stop you... would you even notice?

Most of the time I don't. It is only when it goes against me that I even notice it changed.

So basically it could be changing a lot more than you think but it only seems against you since that is when you notice it.

I would agree the game intends to grief. These boats though are designed to do exactly that, tacking. It's the way they are supposed to work. But, I empathize with the position.
Stop sailing briefly? Log out load a alt and sleep, or cook some stuff, anything. Then jump back on the craft, doesn't need to be much 3-5 min of an odd job? And finally one thing I normally recommend in this situation, back-track briefly, until it gives you the head wind again, or when ever, break up the pattern of the same thing, in a bee line for what ever.

If you look up other discussions about wind, there is a long thread where it is proven it is 100% rng.

It's predetermined, depending on the day and time of day. Nothing to do with your actions.
