I've had this happen. Dig down to bedrock and nothing.

There's a maximum dig depth. Chances are you're in the wrong spot if you dug down and didn't find it. Could be that it's not silver since the wishbone finds other things, or you've got a bug. You have to dig where the pinging is the quickest, not just anywhere while it's pinging.

Sounds like it may be a bug if you dug that much and still haven't found what's making the wishbone go off.

Maybe I've been lucky but I find silver pretty easy to find and dig up.

I had this happen too one time, dug out everything but the silver was deeper than I could dig.

Seems like silver spawn position needs a bit of tweaking by the devs but at least this seems to be a rare thing.

Maybe not close enough.

Scouted over 40 Silver Veins, all have been close to surface
name tghe seed and a screenshot of the map of that vein and i will have a look

Silver only spawns in the super high mountains, and the fact their topography is so wacky sonetimes the silver spawns below where you can *actually* dig too, as there is a limit on how deep you can go no matter how high up you are.

Also yes sometimes youll end up with the same issue where youre picking up a buried chest or bones and not silver. Its a little glitchy at the moment

ehmmmmm then you was just unlucky. you found a small treasure (like a necklace) and maybe not recognise it.
Go for other spot. MY first "veines" was a necklace. :D I prefer to change the location and search for a real veines.

If there is a treasure chest at that location, make sure to delete that empty chest since it will always cause the wishbone detector to start blinking.

There seems to be a bug sometime, I've also encountered wishbone detecting nothing, it goes away after you reload.

I personally very much dislike the wishbone mechanic and I think silver is by far the worst metal to grind for.

I dislike the Wishbone too, but only because of all of the useless 'treasures' it notifies me about. Once you have bought what you need from the Trader, all treasures are nothing but junk and not worth my time.
As for worst metal to grind for, for me that would be iron. That is because you need so much of it and even in the end game you have to keep going back to the swamps for more. Silver by comparison is a short term and finite chore.

I have had to this happen to me too, and was in the spot where it was blinking like crazy. Dug out an entire mountain top and nothing. It took three repair trips for my pickaxe too, so there must be bug where the silver sometimes spawn too deep, just like it sometimes spawn visible, which it's not supposed to do.

Ahhh, rookie mistake. You dug a football field when you should have dug a baseball stadium.

What this person said. Happens to me all the time wile running around with wishbone running stick to the large mountains if you are looking for silver.

The wishbone goes off for buried treasure chests and bones and sometimes (very rarely) nothing at all. Just mark it as a red herring and move on.
