Because it is a local server, it just doesn't let others join. you can do the same with a minecraft bukkit/spigot server hosted on your pc.

it is because single player and multiplayer have the exact same experience

Yeah no one knows, for this i activate console commands, activate devcommands and debugmode, then i just press the Z button. This causes you to be unnoticed by enemies, are able to fly around and events don't happen. It's not really a pause button, but it's the best you can do without mods.

This and the "removedrops" (for obvious reasons i guess) console commands are the only ones i use rather often.

Theres a simple mod on Nexus that allows you to pause with the esc key. I find it invaluable.

oh yeah i have console mode on to save the game because i started to get crashes often :/

i noticed that aswell and i have no idea why they did that, they already ask you if you want to start your world as a server.
its early access so its not a big problem :D these are just some basic stuff though

I am hoping they add a pause button for solo players. I cannot use a mod because I play with a controller and it gets messed up with mods.
