You can mine all the way from one side to another you just have to mine around the center spike. Do the same thing with Yagluth. hollow out under his alter with two exits, one on each side, and you have safety and mobility.

Hopefully Iron Gate will do a revamp on the bosses. Many of the bosses have these sorts of issues; particularly with their pathing. Moder is the worst; you can engage her and find the right place and shell just get stuck or shoot the sky half the time. If she is killing you; just keep fighting her it won't be long until some crazy stuff happens and she gets easy to kill. Have her chase you down the mountain and see what happens when she has to deal with the trees.

The same thing happens with the Elder, he usually ends up going into the ocean and getting stuck for some reason. He seems to want to swim, but he doesn't now how to swim; so he just sits their hopelessly gazing out into the ocean....

The best boss IMO the ones that feel more complete, are bonemass and Ygaluth. Their pathing seems to work pretty well. Yagluth is really fun to bring into the Black Forest because he just... destroys... the black forest. Apparently meteors cut trees better than an axe; who knew?

Wait / run around dodging till she lands, then clear other enemies.

Generally its possible to clear the area before the fight and not be annoyed by mobs but some spawns can be persistent and will respawn them given the chance, so you have to plan where to fight accordingly. Mostly just avoid fighting near golem spawns and eggs.

Considering Moder is mechanically easier than most other bosses additional mobs do balance things out a bit. Kind of like with Bonemass and Elder having helpers. The only difference is that Moder fight difficulty is more emergent property of terrain rather than designed into boss itself.

Dont worry, next boss is gonna be even harder than Moder with mobs around

Plant campfires around the area, and especially near places that are probable spawn points, like near nests.

Make sure the arena is surrounded by sheer walls. Easiest way on the mountain is to pick axe the side of the hill which disrupts the smooth slope. Make sure you see the cliff texture all the way around. You might need to get creative in spots, busting up rocks or building up walls. That will keep wolves and golems out. Makes sure it's not so tall that you have a hard time getting in and out in case Moder goes somewhere you didn't expect. Ask for a friendly local wolf to help you test your work before summoning Moder. If done correctly the wolf will run around outside, get mad and break one of the campfires I told you to put down earlier. No big deal, just put it back after you deal with the wolf you drew in.

It's harder to keep drakes out because not all of them come from nests. Try to figure out the area where they're coming from and put down a few more fires. Otherwise, just do your best to clear them before you start.

modor is so buggy and slow it makes her a super easy boss fight. make some noise by mining around her nest for a couple minutes before summoning her to pull in any random mobs nearby if your worried about adds from the environment.

You can't actually mine under her platform, but you can mine under a lip around the edge, and that's what I recommend. Make a safe spot under there where she can't see you and duck under there when she starts to take flight. Wait a minute until she lands, which will probably be on the platform above you, run out and (my preferred method) jab her with the silver sword secondary attack until she starts to take flight again, and repeat.

I use bonemass power, which mostly nullifies here melee attacks (assuming she doesn't get locked up, which she does frequently on the ground), and last time I fought here, it was over before the bonemass power ended. In fact, I started first thing in the morning, and was back at my base for dinner, which was across an entire large mountain range, some distance of plains, and some swamp.

If you're running around trying to use a bow, it's going to take much longer, and you're likely going to have to deal with other mobs. If you use a strong melee attack you can mostly eliminate that problem.

Among other things, prepare by;
* having plenty good food and potions
* always start in the morning to avoid night spawns at the end
* have full rested bonus for stamina and health regen
* i haven't tried this, but maybe to make a lot of noise (using pickaxe on metal or stone should work), to call and clear out mobs from the nearby areas. Before summoning Moder.
* if you're in real trouble - run away, reload, and keep going

Just dig out a large area, leaving tall pillars in a perimeter about 1.5-2 m apart. The whole interior area should be maybe 8-10 m squared. Moder will not be able to walk through them and you can just covershoot her to death.

I found this out by accident, from fighting near a hole from digging out silver. Make a wide pit, doesn't need to be deep. When she lands, you simply continually circle to keep her on the opposite side and spam arrows.
Unlike raising terrain this means you always have a clear shot and renders her completely harmless while on the ground.

If you really don't want to fight him, just use dev commands to defeat him.

I came to realise preparation is key as a solo player, I made a base close by with a chest full of healing, winter cloaks, and anti freezing potions, i took 400 fire arrows, 100 poison and 100 dart arrows.the problem for me was dealing with the mobs , i had a stone golem, 3 or 4 normal dragons flying over and packs of wolves all coming for me. And the damage to the bows was a problem too. I got him down to the last bit of health and couldnt repair my bow as he destroyed the workbench. Back to square one again! . F.

Maybe raise the ground all around you for a wall against the range attacks. Or just melee with bonemass power

Not really, you could find a part of terrain with a giant minable rock and make a cave for a breather to make it easier and get your rested bonus back. The trick to Moder is going somewhere that has restricted ground so he has trouble moving when he lands, and wail on him. You could be one of the people who pack a 1000 arrows but thats just a waste of time IMO. I'd also suggest building tons of base structures (benches, torches, etc) around his spawn so mobs don't interrupt the fight.
