The Mistlands! You either love it or hate it.

Seen a lot of discussions about people not liking the Mist but am I the only one who loves the grind it makes go through? Ive been killed countless times and yes the terrain is awful to go through and right now I've got one hell of a challenge to get me stuff back from a dead drop and yes I did curse the name Odin last night and rage quit (but it was my stupid fault) but I'm loving it!

I don't think the balance can ever be "dialed-in" as the players will never agree on how difficult the game should be. There will ALWAYS be players saying it is too hard or too easy not matter what they do. The devs should either stay true to their original vision and make the game as they intended accepting the fact that you will never make 100% of the players happy or they should let the players decide by allowing them to directly manipulate difficultly via server controls and options.

well said, i think a huge problem is people want the game to conform to them instead of learning and adapting to something new.

Your argument has no objective stability in terms of breaking with the "before Mistlands"-content. Which is an objective fact Mistlands does by design. You can like it or not, but the game breaks with it.

Even though I really hate the magic introduced in valheim, it's objectively very well implemented. Can't deny this fact, but doesn't change the fact that it breaks with the previews game and that I can't stand logical incosequence.

It's like Rambo is going to use a lightsaber in his next movie. They could set the movie into the future or explain via time travel the technology, yes - and you could rely on it that it's consistent in some way, but you can't deny the fact it breaks with the core of the movie series itself, even he slaugthers through enemys with his light saber arguing "whats the difference? - it's almost like the first film".

If you don't see that, I can't help you either.

its a game... its fantasy!!! lol people in this future gaming are booooring with there rl into gaming world....

This is not primarily a problem with Viking lore itself. It feels so out of place because it breaks with the logical consistency of the game itself.

Looting is not assimilating. It's also not picking every ♥♥♥♥-eating warrior, but picking the best among Odin's followers. Otherwise you could send over every peasant boy, because magic is learned in no time.

You learn in "Afterlife" by touching things and remember its use.. The memories come back - even in the dreams. It doesn't make sense that you suddenly remember your fireball artillery. It just seems so disconnected from the main game that I still don't believe it's in the newest version of it.

Sure, some people think it's kind of cool. Because it is. I think it's cool and it's not bad done by itself. But it would also be cool to ride a dragon and shoot fireballs or fight off laser blasters with a lightsaber. It shouldn't all be in the game just because it's cool.

The crossbow sniper rifle is another thing...

Agree, I lean more toward the "casual" side but like a good (and fair) challenge. Felt the original launch was "unfairly punishing" ... getting mobbed by mobs, blimps respawning too fast, etc. I'm sure multiplayer is a blast, but I'm speaking from a solo perspective.

However, also agree the nerf-o-rama feels like an overcorrect. I actually like the seeker AI change because having them circulate and fight more like a pack of Fulings is more interesting than "charge" followed by "slugfest" all the time. That and the correction of the spawn rates was probably all that was needed.

As for the "unfair" raid, the seeker AI change probably would have been enough. Ok, changing the composition of the raid to remove soldiers also was more than enough. Why then go even another step and remove the raid from the other biomes? Conversely, why change the composition of the raid if you're going to remove it from the other biomes anyway?

I think the queen fight is a still total slog solo (took me an hour - subject of another long thread).

I hope they can get the balance "dialed-in" over time ... actually love the biome and think it's the most interesting.

Interesting comment. While "Magic" of the kind we have here is totally out of the Lore they have so carefully crafted it has a place, but should have been rooted in the game a LOT sooner for those that took the dark path.

I mean we players are the protagonists are "Failed Heros" not quite good enough for Valhalla not so bad as to be utterly dismissed right?

So there is an argument for these reincarnated Vikings perhaps practising a sort of Shamanistic magic. The fireballs belong to the opposition.. But in the spirit of Bolverk (I know actually a pseudonym of Odin) who demonstrates warlocks were a part of the legendary Viking myths.. Some magic should be available in an overt fashion the Magic of the forge as we have now is great but had it been formalised and tweaked it would fit better int he perceived lore.

I'm not a fan of the Mistlands.

I do okay there, but eventually the combination of the mist and the terrain kills me. Just the mist would be fine, but losing 5,000 bow shots worth of levels each time I die due to the mist+terrain just plain sucks ass. :berserk:

Last patch killed the game.
seekers are complete idiot npc's now (no more skill based combat) just wack a moll now.
durability gone up costs are gone down, perfect for every lazy nonskilled lowbob player

yeah devs you did a real mccoy on yourself
rollback the mistland nerfs or sink!
and do it now before the dammage is to high and your losing a lot of serious players
