Fishing Please
I would really like to see fishing implemented in a better way. Considering the emphasis that is put on crafting and resource gathering, and a world that is half ocean, you would think it would play a bigger part.
For starters, not hiding the rod and bait behind a merchant purchase. If I can build a house and a boat, a rod or net should also be within my capabilities. And as for bait, I feel like worms could easily be added as a random drop from digging/cultivating.
An improvement to the fishing mechanic would be nice as well, as fishing itself isn't all that intuitive. A simple timer game (looking at you Stardew Valley) or something similar would improve the experience immensely.
Lastly would be biome specific/unique fish. If there were unique fish, and recipes for them, fishing could become just as vital/rewarding as farming. As a side note, who doesn't want a Pike or a Shark trophy?
Fishing is already in the game, I'm not asking that a brand new concept be tossed in. But it could add a lot to the Valheim experience if it were expanded and done better. Please give me a reason to sail my boat out into the ocean and drop a line in...

I second this as I have a dock and an entire harbor and had no idea fishing was in the game!

If fishing must be a part of the game, I'm sure that changes would be welcome.
(Personally, I'd be happy if fishing were removed, and the two foods currently requiring fish were made from other, more easily found ingredients.)

I third this.
The fishing mechanic in Valhiem is crap. Maybe other people have got it nailed but no one in my group has ever managed to catch enough fish to make the effort worthwhile. One of my friends has had better luck using his hands.
Considering that fish is a needed ingredient for some of the better foods an alternate methode of getting them would be nice. Either Haldor can expand his list of wares or the devs could add an actual fish trap to the game. Craftable or bought makes no difference as long as it catches fish without having to use the damned fishing pole.

Yep. Rod and Bait are available from the Merchants hidden throughout the world. And an improved fishing system would certainly add more value and entertainment to your seaside builds.

Fishing could be a good way to relax after a couple hard earned metal expeditions. But with the current system.. it doesn't make me relax. It rather annoys me really hard. I don't wanna waste my stamina food to catch some fish.
There might be some tricks to it but the downtimes where absolutely nothing happens are far to long and far to often.
I stike down tree monsters and dragons.... but some fish is to heavy and strong.

Yep.
Ive made a few threads about this as well, makes me wonder if the system will be reimagined once they get to the 'Ships and the Sea' content patch.
Til then, pro tip is try fishing off your boat. Sail til you find fish, park your boat near them in the deeper water, and you should be able to pull them right up into the boat with very little stamina use.
