You can absolutely solo the game. It might require the odd look at a guide for some boss strategies but other than that it's really not all that difficult of a game.

The amount of grinding is largely up to the player. For any given gear, the base cost is less than the cost of fully upgrading.
For instance a full set of iron armor cost 60 iron to craft, but another 90 iron to fully upgrade.
The base level is completely serviceable for its respective biome and fighting the boss, but the extra is there for players who want a little extra protection. Like all things in Valheim, prep makes for an easier time, but much of the grind can be thrown out the window for skilled/veteran players.

This exactly. I'm 3 days into my new playthrough and already in Iron armour. If you can manage the biomes (and bosses) in your current gear then there is no point to max upgrade every item. You could probably start on the swamps with just bronze buckler and troll/deer armour if you wanted too ... or maybe just a finewood bow. There are those that skip the swamp and head straight for the mountains for amazing arrows and/or silver.

+500 hours playing solo. It's not a big deal until you keep on staying into your level, gears, exp biome and max everything. If you rush you'll die. I think that this game is not about beating bosses but exploring a huge world, and do stuffs that will make your character live and becoming more powerful. Indeed you will not have the fun when playing with friends.

I mean, enemies scale, but its easier multiplayer as long as someone isn't a clown needing carried. Enemies gain 40% health and 4% damage per additional player in the area when they spawn, meanwhile each player should be providing 100% more damage output.

Game get's harder with more players, in solo mode everything is easy. I prefer some company myself.

I play only solo, i'm not really a social type and yes, everything can be done solo if you go prepared and don't rush it's not hard at all, just take some time.

I've only played solo. Solo is amazing. However as Weaver said, be cautious and prepare. Biomes are tiered and the difference in difficulty between each tier is huge. Once fully upgraded in food, gear, weapons, potions etc, then each biome becomes "safer" for the player, but the next biome up can still hand you your rear end if you're not careful.

ranged weapons are a must :P

Yes is the simple answer. Some people find it hard and others find it too easy. But everything can most definitely be done solo.

yep. as long as you are cautious and prepare you'll do fine. zerg into every situation recklessly and without bothering to gear up, things won't go so well. The more prep work you do the easier time you'll have.
