The seed FFFFFFFFFF (all cap F's) has a swam on the starter island with 47 sunken crypts on it (iff'n you're a world hopper).

Assuming the southern landmass is a swamp (you labeled a crypt there), I'd do a thorough search of it. Given that you've only swept the perimeter of the area, you'll probably be unable to find every crypt as they can be difficult to see from a distance. Make sure you explore the landmass (maybe a walk through the area, enough to be sure no crypts exist).

Everything has a minimum spawn distance from the centre of the world, and in the case of sunken crypts the minimum distance is greater than its respective biome. That is why you found one toward the south where you travelled a greater distance from the centre than previously.

If you break the world into three rings of equal thickness, you definitely want to be deep into the second ring for crypts.

Happend to me too. First two swamp areas i did find, one of them absolutely not small had no sunken crypts in it. After building a forward base and then wasted hours of searching i used the online map viewer to find a swamp with sunken crypts.

Swamps that have the boss spawn place have a bunch of crypts in almost any possible seed

You need to spread your wings a bit more. Try go east and west as well. You will find empty swamps, but you can also find swamps that has 10+ crypts. Don't give up.

I use to believe that too. But recently found a rather large swamp that only had 1 crypt, but then found a tiny strip elsewhere that had 3 crypts.

This part of the game is so badly designed. You get very vague hints that the swamp is the next area to go to, but then you go there, and depending on your world seed you could spend hours trudging through swamps and finding nothing. Unless you know beforehand what you are looking for in the swamps there's a high chance that you just give up since there's NOTHING THERE and try the mountains or plains instead.

Look for big swamp areas. Those patches of swamp at the edges of big islands usually dont have crypts or have a few of them.
I played several maps and always found the biggest swamp areas far south. Last one with 33 crypts.

They should be there. Do you want help?

Try a little further out from start / center of map. If you see plains that should be enough. Then - Don't get out of boat unless you see crypts. If you don't see them from boat then don't waste time exploring that swamp. That's my strategy anyway.

thought this would be far enouh it has no meddows on island and has plains area on same island
