Construction Problem...

I can't align the items I want to place... There's a function... "Alternative Placement" that I don't know how it works, but I simply can't place stuff even using this Alternative Placement. I'm trying to align a Wood Pole 2m with the floor, instead of snapping in the corners, it is snapping in the middle of the sides... Pressing this Alternative Placement isn't changing to the corners, its just swapping the side...

The walls are floating, I try to use the Alternative Placement, it just makes the walls go inside the already placed walls, making half inside and half outside. I have no idea what's going on and what I need to do to fix this. How to deal with this? Is this a bug or what?

Ok, here's my problem...

I need to close the game and open it again to be able to snap it correctly. This is happening with ALL construct buildings, I took the SS from the floor board because I was trying all of the things and none of them worked.

Ok... Someone found a mod to fix this issue? I'm bugging all the time, having to close the game and open again, to maybe fix it, because sometimes it doesn't, I have to repeat the process... This bug is driving me crazy because, despite playing with friends, I'm responsible to organize the chests with items, crafting stations, and farming... But all the time I need to tell "hey, dude, place this here over here because I'm bugged again".

I have a similiar problem but with diagonal poles. Can't make a X where they clip into each other like I used to be.. how pre made structures in the meadows are.

It drove me crazy for like one hour.. then I got so frustrated that I gave up with building.

Think of the snap points more like sphere's, different objects have different snaps available, get them close enough to each other and they snap. The pole for instance has 2 snap points available, one centered on the top face and one centered on the bottom face.

There's a few ways you can try to get the stubborn objects to go in, for foundation poles try looking at the ground where the final piece is going, if the 2m pole's top snap point lines up close to the existing walls snap it'll click in.

It can also be difficult to snap things in from above as you can't really look through a floor or wall, much easier to do it from the bottom but there's ground there, for this reason I usually start builds on levelled ground with framing up on at least 1m poles, If I have trouble snapping additional poles in I can usually press X to sit down and shift the camera just enough to click them in.

Alternative placement just lets you place building objects without snapping to anything, it works more like placing furniture or item stands in that regard.

The problem here is that this alternative placement is working with everything. When I build a house, I build 1 m pole around so it doesn't touch the ground, and I can increase the pole size for stability. The thing is, after placing the pole and a flood, I can't place a wall because the game doesn't allow me to place the wall on the floor, only above the floor floating or inside the floor, half-way in half-way out.

Using the alternative placement doesn't change... I'm aiming on top of the floor, the wall is floating above the floor, if I go down a little, the wall goes inside the floor. If I use the alternative placement, instead of being floating above and in the middle, it snaps down, and now the options are in the middle, and then below the floor.

Literally I can't connect two structures together... How do I fix this? What do I need to do to NOT having this alternative placement on? I simply want to make a square, I can't do a simple square because, after placing the first floor, all the other floors are half-way above it, floating, or half-way below it, also floating.

It's a broken, unless, nonfunctional feature that I can't turn off... I'll have to search for a mod to fix this BS.

The shift key is the typical modifier used to enable alternative placement with a keyboard.

I've not noticed the behavior you are describing before, maybe try putting a horizontal pole along the floor edge you want the wall on? I find that sometimes helps.

I'm gonna try to make a video showing my issue, or at least take some SS.
