No, we really don't. We have lox as rideable mounts already.

I'm onboard with horses and horse armor, maybe even mounted combat. But we would need a way to ferry mounts from island to island too. Putting loxes on longships looks goofy and also just KINDA works.

I haven't experienced horseback mods yet, but I'm not much impressed with Lox riding. As tough as those things are when you are fighting them, they turn into total wimps when you tame them. I have never returned from even a short trip with a living Lox.

Given that most maps's land masses are rather small and devs really more or less intend the majority of the time in the game to be spent on foot, this is why lox are only ridable around the time of the 5th boss' biome.

Given as well that even a beefy lox can get killed relatively quick in various instances and damage they can incur while riding is limited, a horse, even with barding(what you call armor for a horse), wouldn't really be effectual.

And all this too isn't addressing various terrain that makes use of a horse impossible.
