Digging and Water
Just wanted to bring up two fundamental things my friends and I would love to see.
1. The ability to actually dig through the ground rather then one hit removing a whole column. Allowing easier ability to create cave systems and such. With this maybe also increase the depth of the world before bedrock.
2. We love the waves and effects of the storms, but lack of other water animations is a bummer. Would love to see flowing water in lakes and rivers to the oceans. Giving us the ability to use these in true viking fashion would be awesome.
We understand that these two items are no small matter, they would require changes in land elevation and much code altering to achieve, but they are fundamental items in survival building games. For examples of water and digging, No mans Sky, Medieval Dynasty, 7 days to die, and the dreaded Minecraft.
Other ideas include water troughs, water wheels, Draw bridges, and better female animation (wife chimed in there). The male form is not bad but the female is a little hunched and block-y.

1) would require tossing the entire game into the bin and starting from scratch as its build on a height map. Not just terrain, but everything as its all based on interaction in such a world. Obviously not going to happen as what you're actually asking is for them to make an entirely new game.
2) flowing water in a environment that can be manipulated is currently beyond what consumer PC hardware can handle. Even the simplistic Minecraft fakes it with radiant blocks of water. Which is why you don't see it in games where you can manipulate environments. It would require tracking of every single point of water that exist, and not just in loaded chunks but in the entire world, all at once. Billions of points of active data that would then have to respond to any terrain manipulation. That's still years and several generations if hardware away.
the water in 7 days to day can be manipulated, and I agree with the rest that it would require a lot of codeing -- it is more for a possible future reach.

Other than on TV, male and female Vikings looked exactly the same…
Historical evidence has actually shown that even back then Men and Women looked different. I am not suggesting that they make a modern interpretation of holly-woods Vikings. What we would like to see though is a not hunched over female figure that looks pretty much exactly like the males. New smoother skins could be a nice addition as the game goes forward; for both figures.

Maybe my attempt at the water animation is a little off.
What i would love to be able to do in this very beautiful game is:
1)Be able to dig an underground cave system -- even at the current height restrictions this could be possible if you could actually dig into the ground.
2) Being able to dig a trench; for say a mote. and not have it filled with water until you remove the wall of earth you left in place; sort of like digging to Panama Canal.

i had the same thing happen to me in the Mistlands was digging under a giant tree like i had done before and for some reason this particular tree had a low poly slab of bedrock that seemed to defy all attempts at movement I've recently encountered a part of the ground that just can not be minded or manipulated. Was flattening the ground out, and building a mote when I found this huge section of earth that absolutely refuses to change. Wondering what that is all about.
Where is this thread for suggestions -- I am looking again

I know, I have a viking worshiper friend who reads these posts. I like setting his hair on fire. Last time I told him if it wasn't for Errol Flynn and Hollywood, nobody would have even heard of the vikings.

On Steam if you are on the main discussion tab you will see it in the right sidebar. If you are on Discord it is named #Discussions. On discord you can thumbs up or thumbs down each suggestion and there is a separate forum to discuss suggestions.

7D2D uses the exact same thing as Minecraft, actual blocks of water with a radiant effect.

Zak, I hope your post gets the attention it warrants. Most people focus on the next content patch, but is really a given. There will be more biomes there will be more recipes new materials and new building blocks.
This game has great depth in the content that it has thus far, and the suggestions you have including the ability to dig tunnels, better dig motes, and flowing water would further enhance the depth.
The ocean is amazing in this game and given how well the developers where able to do that I imagine given some time and effort they could make lakes and rivers a thing rather than just more sea /ocean acting like channels through the land as we have currently.
I would also like to see the better female models and texture but along with that I would like body type customisation for both, height, width, fat or skinny. Can I be the tall thin man or perhaps a short dwarf, not all humans are one size fits all.

There are limits to how far you can dig from existing terrain. There are also limits to how high you can raise ground. Something like 10 meters in both directions. There is also a thread for suggestions.

The terrain uses a height map and can only be altered +/-8 meters from its original height. Allowing more alteration would double the amount of data each terrain point takes up and would have a quicker negative impact on performance. It would also be more performance demanding as any alteration of terrain would have a larger radius of impact, exponentially so, as alterations don't just effect that point but radiate outwards. So it would significantly decrease performance.
