In this classy fella's opinion, Bronze armor is a waste of time and resources. Maxed troll armor can get you through the swamps. Once you're in the swamps, as has been mentioned, that's when you discover iron. Iron armor and weapons are all viable options.

Yes and then later in the mountains silver but then in the plains it'll be a some things needing iron(and linen) and others dark metal.

That said, having a full bronze max'd set just depends on you and your playstyle.

Though I will say that if something happens and you get in a bind and lose your primary set of armor later due to a back death, having backup sets to help you get back your stuff is not a bad thing.

Folks saying such is a waste of resources isn't wholly accurate since the abundance of resources around the world for making stuff is pretty plentiful. Time is really the only questionable resource in it all.

Really all in all it just depends on what you want to do.

Just an FYI that no one has mentioned yet. You NEED to have poison resist meads to survive in the swamp. So if you haven't built fermenters yet to brew meads you need to use some bronze to build a few and gather what ingredients you need for the mead base (also building the cauldron to make the mead base). It can be tedious but without it you'll die to poison quite quickly.

The root armor also provides poison resist but you'll need to survive the swamp long enough to kill several abominations before you can craft it.

The mace is terrible against Abominations, which is the most dangerous enemy in the Swamp and can be "easily" killed with Bronze Sword and Shield.

For the Swamp Boss however, Iron Mace is the Weapon you should use.

you will be fine in level 3. It is worth upgrading your shield, maybe, if you block a lot.
I highly recommend using a mace instead of a sword. Most of the swamp is more vulnerable to blunt and swords are far less useful there.

much of your time will be in crypts that have pathing issues for enemy, making it fairly easy to manage if you are well fed and decently geared.

Sword is ok, especially for abominations, but you will need the iron mace in the end. Trust me on that.

What I would make with iron:
1. Iron-banded shield.
2. Iron mace.

Level both up as far as you can. Kill abominations for root armor. Use the sword, NOT the mace!

3. Make the mask first. Level it up. You will need it for poison resistance.
4. Make at least the hauberk for pierce resistance against archers. Level it up.

If you have iron left, make the greaves. Level them up. They will serve you well beyond the swamps for a while. Last you should make is the iron pickaxe. You'll need it for the mountains, but not now.

Edit: You will find iron in crypts.
Edit2: Use the mace on anything but abominations in the swamp.

yep, you will get new material there. but getting your equipment high up is helpful.
you will need a lot of that new material from the swamps
it is a good choice to upgrade the bronze gear as much as possible
+ best food
+ poison resistence meads

I use troll than abom armour bi-passing the bronze and iron armour (not the weapons/shield) than the mountain armour for the plains. Im an archer type player though so I like my light armour

Iron first makes?
- shield if you use it
- mace or other weapon
rock cutter -> grinding wheel & forge upgrade (low cost upgrade)
a few nails (low cost comfort items, throne, unlocks big boat, more)
pickaxe: assuming you skipped bronze and just rotated 2-3 antler ones, this clears up the mess and is the best one you can get. Hold off on upgrades, but go ahead and make it so you can mine the iron easier.
and after that, if you are gonna, your suit of armor.
-- be sure to have 200+ spare iron ingots stored away after you are happy with your gear.
you will need them for:
- bigger chests, you can reclaim these when you upgrade to the final biggest chests
- additional crafting station upgrades.
- next 2 tiers of gear will use some iron. actually, a lot of iron.
- ironwood beams are critical for making tall builds / support heavy designs like rock ceiling.

Make lvl 4 swors , only blobs are some resistant but the rest of mob get very good damage from it
In swamp craft iron mace to lvl 4, it worth the entire swamp and mountain biome
If you know how to parry make an iron buckler and iron set , remember use a anti poison me/ad in swamp

Max level armor and weapons are generally a waste of resources. Focus on beating the zone rather than grinding a full new equipment set worth of materials, and move to the next tier of items.
