If you sign up for beta will you still need to restart on official release?
Just curious as I was thinking of coming back with this update as it sounds fairly big, but I don't want to bother starting a new world, only to then need to start another one in a few weeks or whenever it is that the full release of it comes.

Probably not, but in saying that any significant change may not be carried over if you don't start again.
Rule of thumb with any betta test state is to restart upon full release to ensure you get what is intended. This included this Pre release of a EA Update Patch
